Strategy:

Have a town that is almost complete ready when Rival starts.  Make sure there are 4 tasks that can be completed quickly and coachman is lv3.  Why?  Because you have to use 3 time skip to get to quest 16 and using them early in a city is a waste.

At quest 16 it is ideal to have started a new city.  Upgrade banquet steward to lv5 right away.  Now you can use the time skips when needed and easily to the 12 tasks from quest 16 and 24.

Quest 27 requires prev age troops so it's easy to plant a military building and use your traz if you have one.

quest 32 requires you to build a goods building and do a 4 hr production.  Or if you have a production building that makes goods for a 4hr production you can use that.

So obviously Rival 2 is a lot more challenging.  There are 50 tasks that need to be completed.  If you plan ahead and are able to rush supply quests it's very manageable just by spreading it out over two towns.  What worked well on Beta was finishing off a town as long quests were completed and only accepting the reward for completing a task when there was a quest for it.  Then starting a new town or you can just start from a new town as it's only a 3 task difference.  The first 20-ish tasks are fast.  A town will give 32-34 tasks depending on your overseer level so picking up the rest of the tasks on a new town is easy.

Quest 16 and 24 require time skips which require event currency so make sure you have some banked or you'll have to spend diamonds.  If you do this right you'll be using those time skips on the long quests so it will help you.

Quest 32 also requires a 8hr time skip and mine was wasted as it was early in a town.

So is it worth it to do the rivals?  Maybe.  The heroes are an upgrade but way, way, way better heroes are coming in future events that make these two obsolete in the very near future.

The rival quest rewards are kind of garbage considering how much you have to do to get them.  So is it worth it?

If you're going for the top 1% league prize then yes it is because of all the overseer upgrades and time skips.  If going for the gold league you will need to do about one town per day.  Using the overseer upgrades to get steward and coachman from lv4 to lv 5 saves a lot of currency.  The other special currency is good too if you can time it right.

Just remember when doing rivals to set your overseers to the quest levels right away so you get the benefit of a lv5 from the beginning instead of having it lv 3 then upgrading as the quest comes.

Good luck
