Great Buildings Prestige postponement and FAQ

This is a copy/paste from Inno

We received numerous questions about the ongoing redesign of the recently announced Great Buildings Prestige feature. We expect the update to take at least a few months due to its technical and design complexity, as well as other topics needing urgent action.

While we cannot reveal the details of the design or the exact release date because it's still a work in progress, we can share some of the thought process behind our decisions.

This FAQ is heavily condensed. If you don't see an answer to your specific question, it's likely because the answer is yet to be determined by our team, or that it was already shared in our previous communication.

The information here concerns the state of the Great Buildings feature only on the Beta server after the update on March 9th, 2026. If you play on Live servers, none of the following applies to your game.

1. What was the reason behind increased Forge Point costs of the Great Buildings level-up?

In a competitive game like Forge, it’s impossible to completely avoid power creep, so our strategy is to work with it. The balancing (bonus to cost ratio) we released for Prestige on Beta is based on the estimated power creep we expect in the next few years. As the players’ power continued to grow, these costs would become increasingly more accessible over time, despite seeming completely unreachable in the current state of the game economy.

That said, we understand how frustrating it may feel as a player, so we are looking for a compromise that would make Great Buildings resistant to power creep for longer while still being accessible right after release. We expect the costs after redesign to still be higher than on Live, but without feeling as unattainable as they do right now.

2. What was the reason behind the increased Goods costs for building and Blueprint refinement?

Similar to the Forge Points costs, the Goods costs also account for the future economy that will be affected by power creep — Goods included. Costs for Blueprint refinement also exist to keep the feature relevant for longer and add an extra level of challenge, as opposed to players immediately burning through the newly added levels.

While we agree there's a need to make low Era Goods easier to get, we also consider this aspect to be an added challenge in this feature. As mentioned, Prestige levels were never intended to be achieved immediately, but rather over a longer time period, requiring an investment that needs time to be built. As a rule, if a resource becomes more relevant than before, it will take time for it to gradually become more available throughout the game, as this requires integrating new mechanics and reward structures into more features.

3. Will Great Buildings receive unique bonuses in the redesigned update?

New building effects are generally a focus topic in the game team, so the discussion about them is always ongoing. We continue testing ideas for new GB effects, and this process is more complex than it might seem from the outside. At the moment, it is still to early to say if any of them will survive the prototyping stage, so we consider different scenarios for the redesign.

4. Will the new migration be the same as on Beta?

Our primary goal with migration is minimizing the loss of resources and effort players have invested into the feature before the update. We hear your concerns about the migration conducted on Beta and are looking for ways to address them before the Live release, so you can expect the migration to be different in the final design.

Migration is closely connected to the feature design itself, so both are yet to be determined. Here we're looking to achieve the least disruptive compromise between different player states in this feature.

5. We have received a small portion of the Great Buildings with Tiers. Do you plan to update all of them?

While we are saying “yes” here, we want to make it extensively clear that this stage is planned for after the current update is concluded and, most importantly, settled on both Beta and Live, which may require additional releases. When and where (i.e. via which features, e.g. a new Era) we will add new Tiers will become clear over time.

  2. Reading this blog then the announcement there's nothing new there other than the confirmation of what was said already.
Maybe the delay? Again the delay? This isn't rocket science.

    1. The problem is we (the players) didn't just lay down and take it. They expected some initial push-back and then shrugs. That didn't happen. Make no mistake it will still be bad when the new version comes out but it will be less bad.

    2. can you say how bad or how this changes the road map?

  3. So, longer to build that one or two GBs we wish we could have... much closer to reality - any information on the Next Event that can be shared>??

  4. Is it safe-ish to continue to build and level GBs based on the first wave with attributes that have been posted or can we expect changes in that regard and should hold off?

  5. Now Inno is all like "don't plan based on what's going on with beta", give me a f-ing break! What did they honestly think players would do? Of course everyone is going to scramble to build based on the information they released. And to make matters worse, Inno leaves the date it will go live a big mystery. Of course players are going to start using up "finish all special productions" kits to raise forge points to build/push GBs. And these LAME GBs will take up space for MONTHS! Maybe YEARS... Who knows with freaking Inno. They could have made things easier for the player community by adjusting the "store building" kit to include GBs but nope. Maybe their goal is to piss off players... Even negative engagement with the game is positive engagement for Inno right? And players are currently pissed. Only thing is, players are going to start leaving the game... heck they already are. This game is supposed to be fun/relaxing for folks, a place to get away from everyday pressures/frustration. But Inno's sloppy game development is bringing frustration to the game. Sorry for the rant.

    1. The don't plan based on beta is a cover your ass move and there are two parts to it.
When the new system comes out the people on beta will get a rebate for the over-priced GB's.
Secondly and this is the more important part is they don't want players demanding compensation for GB's they deleted due to high costs that they now want to build due to less high costs.

  6. I can't understand the rant above. Inno have more often than not changed tact on events and roll-outs based on feedback from beta. Sometimes their pivot is well received, sometimes not. But they often pivot. This is something 90%+ of gamers would consider desirable. I'm fairly sure the ranter would prefer this. When Inno said, 'don't make decision that affect long-term game play based on things happening in beta', I think they should be taken at their word. The players that built and overcommitted resources based on speculation are not players who want a relaxing/frustration free game play.
The players who are that competitive cannot be pleased it seems. They can only have their displeasure temporarily reset to 0.
The audience who is mostly OK with things will not be as vocal. Why would they? They are enjoying the status quo and upcoming quo. If the audience who has such disdain for Inno and this game are in the majority, they should leave. Why hold people you don't like hostage to your negative view of them? Why would you do that to yourselves?
Also, I dislike the idea of storing GBs. They are a long term investment which only pays off as an opportunity cost. If you can store them that goes away. If they created a brand new hardre to get item like finish all special that means you could park 1 GB a month that could be OK. Even then, if a building were that great, why would you want to park something like an Arc or AO for an extended period of time. Seems pointless.

    1. I had an eco city until yesterday. Made 60k FP per day and about 30 FSP. I had reached that point thanks to planning over close to three years. First, I multiplied sunhaven manors. Then I got a jester farm. Finally, I had my eco city, all glorious 70+ buildings.

So I started pumping my GB until I reached what one would call a soft cap. And once I reached that point, I considered the few GB I had and noticed that the crit chance from the AO did not give diminishing returns, only FP invested in it did. In other words, a few extra percentages will always be way more valuable than whatever fighting stats you could get.

So I started leveling my AO. I had plans to bring it up to L300. I had the FP income and over 6'000 FSP and counting, along with about a dozen forgotten temple.

Then, the second GB update hit. That's when Inno shoved it in my face that any AO bonus beyond L200 will be converted into useless GE stats. Mind you, that was after Inno had reassured players that they could "safely keep leveling their GB".

I no longer had a goal. My eco city no longer had a purpose. I had kept it around for much longer than I should have considering the new paradigm and paid a heavy price in cost of opportunity, losing out on hundreds of thousands of fights in GBG and ensuing tokens and diamonds. All for nothing.

Finally, last Friday, Inno said that they'd be sitting on their stupid asses for a few months, contemplating their navels and thinking about how they actually want to address GB obsolescence.

That's when I lost it. I shelved my entire eco city and switched to a fighting build, as I should have over a year ago.

Yes, it's better for us to wait longer instead of getting a garbage, game-changing update... But, in the meantime, the game is even worse off because not only are we left with mostly useless GB but we don't even know where we can safely put our FP anymore.

Given all that, NOW do you understand the issue with postponing the GB update and leaving players in limbo even longer? People are fed up with Inno's shit. I'm just one among many, many others.

    2. Not sure who the well said comment goes to. I don't want to call the comments above a rant because it sounds like I'm being dismissive. There are many good points there but I still don't get how inno 'shoved things in your face', or are copping out by saying ahead of time the rollout isn't final. I've only been playing the game for over a year. Maybe for longer term players all of this seems like a big deal. Metas change in popluar games all the time. If time served remains a constant advantage, newer players like me will drop out because there's no hope of competing.
Maybe I'm not invested enough to see why this is terrible and why years of planning for one strategy is primarily validated by changes that haven't happened. The delay definitely sucks but I'd rather wait for better ideas to take shape. The alternative is something that seems to make the most vocal group of people annoyed.
I also know that no single decision can benefit every interested party at once. If this GB update really pushes 3-5+ year players out of the game and they are the vast majority of active players, then the game implodes and everyone moves on. I don't know the metrics of new players vs older players and what % is active but I assume Inno does. So either they are bad at their jobs but convinced many people to sink hours into their game, or they sometimes try and get things right and wrong but make a game most of their player base are happy with. Either way I still feel like I have goals worth pursuing in the game and even if I built a CdM and tore it down again after a few days, I factored that in thought it was worth the detour. It wasn't, but I've got other things to fill that space.

    3. Hi Rant Responder I'm not coming for you but you're wrong on this one. The GB update as it stands will be the largest self-own this game has ever done. Especially if they keep the goods requirements.
If the point is to make the GB's worth building and levelling they have objectively failed.
