Predictions of where this game is going in the next year.

Guild Expedition:

It has long been announced that GE will be adding levels 6-10.  Inno wants to future proof GE so there's a bit of a dilemma.  Given how fast power creep has boosted player's abilities if they released GE lv1-10 now we'd be auto battling lv10 by the end of the year.  They cannot release levels that are impossible to complete so here is the compromise.

GE lv6 will be released very soon to Beta server.  Instead of releasing lv6 as all red fighting and lv 7 as all blue fighting it will just be lv 6 with a mix of red and blue fighting.

We will not see lv8-10 this year.

Lv 6 is supposed to be hard to complete but only moderately difficult for advanced players.

From Dev:  "We’ve been giving players potions to make GE easier and now they will have something to use it on.”

Quantum Incursions:

I had thought that QI for EMA was dead.  Well, it's alive, it's in a playable state and it's a lot harder than the IA version.  Even with more boosts expect to get less progress.  All those 3-5% QI boost buildings might be worth placing in your main city at the start of QI.  No timetable on when we'll see it but probably not this year.

Space Age Space Hub (SASH) (dear god please change this name)

This age was scheduled for release in the spring of 2025 but we live in a world where investors not game developers have final say and they want a 4th quarter 2024 release.

The age is nowhere near ready.  Keep in mind the previous space ages were cookie-cutter/copy paste of previous ages with minor tweaks and art assets.  SASH is different.  Releasing an unfinished buggy mess is a bad idea.  Let's hope sanity wins out on this one.

Hero System now called "Historical Allies"

Scheduled to go to Beta Sept 6 in time for the next QI championship season but it's ready now and could go earlier.  We're only going to get a small portion of it while it's being tested so may as well start testing early.

More info on that here.

GbG

The new map using blue stats for fighting has been delayed yet again.  It's been ready since November of 2023.  Here is the explanation I received as to why.  Upon the introduction of GElv5 they made a conscious choice of considering GE complete after lv4 so all quests involving GE would auto complete after 64.  The blue stat fighting of lv5 was a bonus with a big reward of the forgotten temple.  Well enough time has passed and enough event buildings and great buildings that give blue stat boost have come out and now GE completes with 80.

The problem of introducing a GbG map with all blue fighting is there is no auto-complete mechanism that would allow inno to ease it into the game without shutting out a lot of players who still don't have blue fighting stats in their city.  They have given blue stat GbG potions for months now but still feel players are not ready.  To me a simple solution would be to have blue sectors in a mixed fighting map but they seem intent on a solid blue fighting map so we're delayed with not timetable for launch even though it's been ready for more than half a year.

Buffing Great Buildings

Power creep has made most GB's obsolete so almost all of them will be getting a buff of some sort.  Most will get a boost of what they already give then add an element they didn't give originally.  Use the Observatory as an example.  It got a big boost by adding blue stat boosts but it also lost support pool when GvG ended.

Some buildings produce "unrefined goods" but as you know once you reach the space ages you no longer use unrefined goods to make current age goods.  I would expect to see changes to these GB's near the top of the list.

The problem with updating GB's is they give static bonus.  Unlike event buildings that can be scaled by age GB's are static so how do you boost it enough to make it good in Tian and not over-powered in Iron Age?  That type of balancing will take a while and we most likely won't see any buff this year.

Changing Event Mechanics

Inno has recognized that they are demanding more and more of your time.  With GE, GbG, recurring settlements to get ascending level, QI, 10 events a year and about 25 Rival quests a year that's a lot.  People either have or are in danger of just abandoning some systems in order to excel in others.  We're all seeing it now right?  People just skipping events or not bothering with QI for example.

So some changes have already been implemented.  We've gotten the auto-replace troops feature which may be one of the best quality of life changes in this game.  Maybe second to being able to add FP to GB without having to add 10 at a time.

We've also seen the timing of settlements and QI change where it makes sense to visit twice a day instead of three times a day.

The other major changes will be seen in events.  I was talking to a dev about the St Patrick's day event in particular but this applies to other more time consuming events like the card games and the candy crush mechanic.

Dev:  "We don't want players to have to tend to their cities as if it was a nursing child"

Everyone who's played St Patrick's day event can feel that statement right in their bones.

So they're looking at ways to speed these events up to a point where we only have to tend to them 1-3 times a day.  One proposal was an option to automate tasks for a small diamond fee.

FoE Hard Mode

This is still at the concept stage which means even if green-lit we won't see it on Beta for 2 years so don't sweat this one too much.  So I'll explain the problem and what they may try to do to fix it.

Before GbG changed to remove zero attrition some top-end fighters would only put red attack in their city and not worry about FP or goods because they were farming GbG.  When the new GbG came out top fighters were maxing about 10k fights a season as compared to 20-30k per season.  So what has happened is players have prioritized FP and goods production in their city once their fighting abilities were sufficient.

So now we have players with hybrid cities that can produce a lot of FP, goods and fight both red and blue at a high level.  So how do you challenge these players?

Well the idea was floated to introduce a hard mode.  How would this work?  Well take a game feature like GE.  A player could at the start of GE be given an option of regular or hard mode.  The hard mode would be a lot harder but also provide much better prizes.  What was talked about was creating a challenge so hard that a player would have to shed everything in their city that didn't give attack boost to meet this challenge.  Then if they beat the challenge they are rewarded with a forgotten temple like building that more than compensates for the loss of FP and goods from city collection.  How do you make the reward worth the risk?  I see all kinds of problems with this but we'll see.  I was also against using blue stats for GE and I was wrong about that.  It's worked out great.

Since the game changed to needing GE 80 instead of GE 64 I don't recommend just rushing GE to auto-complete all the negotiations.  It's very costly and easy to burn your medals inventory.  Instead just do the negotiations.  I think it was 30 in total so just shy of completing GElv2.

Use your hood and PvP tower for the fight quests.  Using GE for the fight quests makes your negotiations harder.  Remember to use the extra turn boost in the tavern.

Aging up guide

Aging up?

Before aging up or ideally before leaving Bronze Age consult this guide for getting advanced age troops.

https://forgeaddicts.blogspot.com/2023/10/higher-age-units-easy-guide.html

The above guide will help guide you in what to research or leave unresearched.

Iron Age

Stay in Iron Age until Arc is lv 80.  If you want access to antique dealer then age up to EMA but know your buildings are larger requiring a bigger footprint and you will need production buildings of your age to complete quests.  In iron age you can normally use blacksmiths for quests that require production buildings your age or age below.

If camping in Iron Age then make sure you leave research open to get 2 heavy troop from next age.  Need a minimum of 2 techs.  Leave a military and most importantly a cultural tech open.  The advance unit guide that's widely available online does not specify what types of techs are needed.  It's cultural.  Build and level a Château Frontenac.  The CF gives a bonus to quest rewards.  Every age has what's called recurring quests (RQ).  Each RQ will give out a diamond reward once.  Each age has different RQ's.  You see where this is going.  The CF gives you more coin, supply, FP, medals and diamonds from quest rewards.  So every age make sure you get the diamond reward for every quest before aging up.  Then rinse and repeat.

EMA

If you advance to EMA then you are free to research all the techs you need to advance to late middle ages.  All the techs that are not required to advance to the end leave unresearched.  All of them.

 LMA to Industrial Age

If you are in LMA you can get a few colonial age troops.  Consult the link above.

In my view it is best to camp in Iron Age until Arc is lv 80 then slowly level to Industrial Age.  Spend two or four week in each age.  Age up on a Thursday at start of new GbG season.

When a new GbG start do one fight, then age up.  You will have the entire season fighting troops one age below you.  Use your harvest of FP to prepare to go to next age.

Make sure you stock up on goods and trade for goods for the age you are going up to.  Also look ahead on the tech tree page to see how much supplies you will need.  Supplies are the often overlooked barrier to aging-up quickly.

The reason I strongly favor Industrial Age or Progressive Era for a long camp is because that is the ideal time to get advanced age troops and work the continent map.

You can get hoover tanks and even Oceanic Future troops while in Industrial age.  Stay a long time, level up your GB’s, be a rock star in GE and GbG and work that map using the guide linked above.

You can also give yourself breathing room in regards to techs by planning on camping in Progressive Era instead.  PE does not have any stealth units and fast fighting with hoover tank for example has an easier time in PE.  Same for Turtles from OF.  They can get wrecked against industrial era stealth units.  Going to PE is easier and probably better for most people.  But you can do industrial era.

It takes about 24 open techs to use this strategy.  Most of those tech will be from Colonial and Industrial but you need to keep techs open from the start of your game.  Easier if going to progressive era.

Once you hit the quest called “Persuasion” your journey of obtaining advanced age troop is over.  While you camp you need to work through the AF and OF map using those advance age troops.

Aging up past PE

So you’re in Industrial Age or Progressive and bored as hell because everything is too easy.  You have awesome event buildings in storage and you have no more expansion slots and want to age up.

FE, Space Age Jupiter Moon, Space Age Asteroid Belt, and Space age Mars in that order are the best ages for fighter to rack up fights and profit in GbG.  People will have personal preferences but if you want to fight at high attrition and fight quickly these are the best ages.

With the new auto-replace dead and injured troop feature you can now do fast fights using a mix of units.

In any age that has two lane roads you only need one single 2x2 road in your city that is attached to your barracks.  You shouldn't need goods, housing, production or any other buildings that require a 2 lane road.  In fact you can have your barracks completely unattached (zero two lane roads) and your traz will still make the troops from that building.  You will of course lose the attached troops (the troops you build).

The other advantage to having just one single two lane road is all the 2 lane road incidents will be on that one spot.

Game changes in Artic Future (special goods)

Age up to whatever age you enjoy but know the game changes at AF.

I would strongly recommend camping in FE for a long time to accumulate goods, supplies and to make sure you are well past VF on campaign map.  You can use Hover Tank from FE to fight AF, OF and VF map.

AF and OF suck.  Attrition achieved in FE will be lower  in AF and OF.  You cannot rush the age because it requires special goods that cannot be traded.  That is why you build the SC on day one then power level it on that day to lv 28.  That will give you 839 promethium and over the next 27 days you get 1215 more for total of 2054.  Unlock AF on first day of GbG

Every age will require special goods moving forward so SC and harbors or moon colonies are here forever.  Arctic and Oceanic Future use harbors, Space ages use colonies.  You can see on the tech tree page how many special goods you will need from previous ages so here's a strategy.

You will always have access to AF and OF harbors so you can always get more of the special goods from this age.  In space ages you lose the colony once you age up but can make synthesizers in your main city to make those goods.  The space carrier (SC) also makes special goods but to be honest after I had enough OF and AF special goods I deleted mine.

If you are past the OF map you only have to stay in AF for 2 GbG seasons.

When GbG start do one fight then age up.  Unlock harbor, send it out then you can fight GbG using 1 hoover tank and 7 rogue.

When next GbG start you will fight AF troops 3 Hoover tank and 5 rogue.  Same for GE.

If platform 60, 62, 63, 64 (4 heavy, 4 artillery) are give you problem use 8 combat drones from TE to hit 4 heavy then auto vs artillery.  If you have plasma the AF artillery units you can use 6 plasma 2 rogues instead.  If the army you are fight is using plasma artillery, put your hoover tank away and use flying units.  I find the TE flying units better than the AF flying units.

Important note:  DO NOT UNLOCK THE LAST CREW MEMBER TECH “FROST IMMUNITY”.  It makes harbor runs more expensive.  Just wait until you have enough promethium for OF.  Need at least 610 promethium before aging up to OF to unlock Eel Units

Aging up to OF strategy:

This is different from every age before.  Age up BEFORE GbG starts.

If you have 2280 Promethium you can unlock OF Terminal which unlocks OF special good Orichalicum.

OF is best to fight OF troop with OF troop so age up before GbG start.

1 sub cruiser, 1 turturret and 6 rogue or

8 eels

Or continue to use Hoover Tank against AF troop and age up after GbG start but OF against OF is better

The new auto-replace feature makes fighting with 1 sub cruiser+1 turturret+6 rogues just as easy as using 8 eels.

Eels move first and hit all units hard.  They also hide in bushes and can hit opponent flying units.  The enemy wounded units don’t hit you as hard and I find this a winning combination.

Power level SC to 58 once OF special good is unlocked.  Lv 58 is most efficient level.  Won’t get another diplomatic reward until lv 91

If you double dip every day you get 3560 special goods in 30 days going from level 28-58.  If you power level to 58 on first day you get 3764 in 30 days.

Like the last age do no unlock “new recruits” tech.  It unlocks new crew members and makes harbor less efficient.  The techs after are not critical so wait until you have extra 1410 promethium and 1260 orichalicum to unlock rockets in VF before aging up to VF

Aging up to VF

The grind of AF and OF is over, congratulations.

Age up before GbG starts, unlock rockets right away.

6 rockets 2 rogues is go to troops.  If the opponent has ninjas switch to Ronin bots.  If your attack is high then just use Ronin bots as you can fast fight without worry about match-up.

GE first 3 levels is against OF troop so use 8 eels from OF then rockets on GE4

Should only need 2 weeks in VF if space age mars map is completed

Aging up to space age mars (SAM)….and beyond to all other space ages

Both SAM continent maps should already be completed.  On map there is exploration sites where you can gain Mars Ore (SAM special good)

If you don’t have these unlock then you cannot unlock main fight unit Sentinel

If fighting SAM map before reaching SAM

  • Use hoovers against sentinels and sniperbots
  • Use drone swarm or recon raiders or eels (fast units) against tesla
  • Use artillery (plasmas or rockets) against space marines or steelwarden
  • If map is conquered then age up after GbG start.  You can use sentinels against VF units and win easy

Takes 3-4 days to get enough mars ore to unlock sentinels

Put exploration sites to work, get tickets in colony

Need lots of tickets at start.  Fill colony with drop pod for tickets.  After 3 days, collecting every 4 hours you have plenty of ticket

Moving forward you should be able to easily complete maps of future ages well before you enter that age.  If you have a high level CF you will love the RQ in space ages especially in SAAB and beyond.  Goods are essentially free in colony.

All other space ages have the same strategy.  Scout the continent map first.  Accumulate all the special goods you need for future ages before leaving the current age.  If you screw up and still need special goods from a previous space age you can build synthesizers in your city which your hood can plunder.  You can also get them from SC and AI but best to stay in the lower age until you have enough special goods.

SAM to Titan aging up strategy changes once the new age Space Hub is released in Winter 2024 or Spring of 2025.

Historical Allies

If you have reached Iron Age this building will appear in your city.

There are a total of 16 Heroes.  We only get a choice of 5 to start while the bugs get worked out.  Here they are.

Alexander

Arminius

Boudicca

Spartan soldier

Teuta

Not all heroes are equal.  There will be tiers like common, epic and legendary heroes.  You need to house them in your city by unlocking and building this

You can assign a hero and recall them but be careful as there is a cool-down period before you can use them again.

More details to follow when embargo is lifted but for those who are having difficulty in QI, help is on the way in the form of Heroes.

Summer Event

Casino wheel is gone but it does have a shuffle.  Here's the quick and dirty on this event.

-It has a calendar system which is a diamond sink.  Friendly advice.  Look on this site or click this link for the Care Event 2024 which is the event after this one.  It's much better to spend diamonds on that event.
For people who played this on Beta they've tuned the available keys downward to make it impossible to complete without spending diamonds

-There's another mechanic that lets you buy prize lines with diamonds.

So I ignore the above two mechanics and now talk about the game.

This is a super easy event to play as you can hoard event currency to the last day if you want.  In my view none of the daily prizes are top notch so if someone wanted to play every day to get a calendar key that is a totally fine way to get extra calendar prizes even if you don't intend to spend diamonds to complete the calendar.

For people who have diamond worlds there is a wishing well on the calendar so either play it that day or get enough keys to open that box.

For people who are short some selection kits this is a good event to get the missing pieces.

Where I believe this event shines is for people who don’t produce a mass self-aid kit a day.

Motivated/polished (polivated) buildings give you more stuff.  The maximum polivatiion any player can receive per day is 300 (80 hood, 80 guild, 140 friends) and nobody gets that.  Developed cities with tiny event buildings can now exceed 400 buildings that need polivation or you’re missing out.  As an example on my main city as a test I use mass self-aid right after collection and it aids 418 buildings and boosts FP output from 1905 to 4244.  When I do it right before collection it usually goes from 3100 ish to 4244.

For goods right before collection it goes from 6800 ish to 11209.

So if using a mass self-aid kit right before collection (after receiving polivation from hood, guild and friends) it gives over 1k FP and over 4k goods.

To get a mass self-aid kit per day you need 10 lv2 Nutcrackers.  To get the nutcrackers you need the chocolatery event buildings.

That’s where this event shines.  If you don’t have these buildings you can get the selection kits by playing the board when it’s a daily special.

There is a special event currency you get in the rival quest line to double the reward.  You can also get a 2x’s tile on the board and they stack so you can get 4 selection kits at once if you play the mechanic correctly.

The main event prize gives population and happiness which can offset some of the better offspring event buildings that cost population and happiness to place.

So while this event building isn’t my favorite it can be a support building to other things you want in your city.

End of the day this is as casual as it goes for an event.  Daily players can do just as well as super active players.

The other advantage to this event is bronze league to gold league will have a building that makes the main building as a reward.  It's scaled and the higher leagues offer the better option.  But bronze league players still get a version.  That's pretty good.

Edited to add as there have been questions.

Dragon board is a special board.

You collect three (I think) pieces on normal boards.  When you have a full dragon your NEXT board is a dragon board.  You do not chose when it's activated it's just the next board.  Obviously do not activate it until there's a daily prize you like OR if you're going for calendar and have not received the daily key then go ahead and activate it.  If you have received the daily key then do it the next day.

Dragon boards have much better prizes including two - see two items, daily specials and two double rewards.  If you're going for a daily special this is where you want to use the rival items to see two items on board and if you see daily prize and x'2 tile then

1) click the x'2 tile

2) select the double reward from the rival quest rewards

3) then select daily special in that order

if you do the rival double reward first you cannot get 4x's daily special.

Strategy for cannon ball.  It destroy tile but not 2x's, daily special or key tiles.  If it destroys shuffle then you must uncover all tiles to move to next board or wait until reset.

So you can destroy all tiles if you want and all that will be remaining is 2x's, show 2 and daily special.  That leaves you a 1/3 chance you'll get the show 2 first.  I don't like those odds.

If you're going for daily specials or key fragments then here is a better way.

Play boards until you expose the 2x's reward.  If the show 2 has already been used then you can fire away with cannon balls until there is only one tile remaining.  That is the main prize.  While 2x's reward is active then select double prize from rival quest currency  then daily special to get 4x's the reward.

It's easier on dragon boards but the problem is using cannon balls destroy good prizes so I don't recommend using it there.

Last note and this may no longer apply to live server as it was already fixed on Beta but bugs are bugs and this is a big one.

If you play a board and get the daily special or key (or key fragments) you don't have to finish the board.  It will reset at midnight game time and you get a fresh board.  Don't waste tiles after you already have the prize you want.

But here's the bug.  If you play a dragon board it's best to complete it fully.  The prizes are worth it generally but more important is the bug.  On Beta players that started the dragon board and did not complete it before system reset were locked out of the event for days.  It should be fine for live server but I'd suggest being safe and not doing that.  Good luck in the event.

Remember all the timed production quests in the rival challenges are now same age so blacksmiths won't cut it.
