Major Changes to Quantum Incursions

 Embargo until June 4, 2024

Quantum Incursions 2cnd championship

The Basilisk Peaks Incursion map is gone and replaced by two new maps.

  • Dragon Valley
  • Drake Mountains

If guilds select Drake Mountains they can unlock two new buildings. All numbers on this site are always SAT and motivated when applicable

Neo Sentinel Outpost Lv 2 shown

  • 1x1 no road required
  •  9% red attack and defense
  • 8% red attack and defense GbG
  • 10% red attack and defense GE
  • 10 FP
  • 11 same age goods

Neo Tactician's Tower Lv2 shown

  • 1x1 no road required
  • 9% blue attack and defense
  • 8% blue attack and defense GbG (yes blue fighting in GbG is coming)
  • 10% blue attack and defense GE
  • 10 FP
  • 11 Goods

 Other map changes:

There will no longer be 2x bonus for certain troop fights/donation, goods, coin and supply donation.  People were waiting for the 2x node instead of just taking the non-bonus node so it's gone.

The progress has been adjusted to reflect the new structure and it's scaled to level.

  • Map difficulty 1-5 gives 4 progress.
  • difficulty 6-8 gives 5 progress
  • difficulty 9-10 gives 6 progress

Donation costs for resources, units and goods have been changed to make them roughly the same

Movement cost cut in half to make it easier to move at higher levels

Army difficulty in lv9 has been adjusted so that some nodes give lv7 difficulty allowing all players to continue to play the higher maps.  Provided the players who don't need the easier difficulty actually leave those nodes for other players.

Starting amount of Qsupplies increased from 15,000 to 25,000.  This should allow players to build units faster and make the first few days more fun.  The starting amount of ballista has been upped to 8 instead of 4.  That makes 8 for every starting unit.

Players can now select 3 types of goods and military buildings.

Quantum pass has been boosted.  I'm not going to promote it so find the info on your own if you're interested.

Neo tactician tower and sentinel outposts have been added to the leader board prizes.

Edited to include an over site of medals changes.   (Thanks to Ellys)  Medals increased in free pass from 10,000 to 15,000.  Gold pass players get 3.5 x what free to play players get.

End of QI reward chests now unlock at 50 and 100 progress instead of 40 and 160????  Am I remembering correctly here?

For those that unlock all boxes at the end there's a new prize called "QI Spring 2024 Epic Selection Kit".

That kit gives you the choice of the following:

  • Neo Tactician Tower
  • Neo Sentinel Outpost
  • Neo Winner's Plaza
  • Neo Botanical Rotunda
  • Upgrades for all the above

We will be staying in Iron Age for a while if not forever.  There is a huge road-block in going to the EMA version as developers have no problem with players from a higher age playing a lower age.  They have a huge problem with players of a lower age playing a higher age.

One potential solution is to age-lock QI to the player's city age like we do in GE and GbG but that makes balancing the QI almost impossible.  So the solution is to stay in Iron Age until something can be agreed upon in the future.

Auto Replace Troops

The auto replace troops feature has now been implemented on Beta server and coming to Live server very soon absent major glitches.

It works simply.  You set the attack army you want to use.  Units die or get injured as per normal.  Before the next battle starts you can manually change troops as we have done before or you can select "replace units" and it will replace dead or injured troops with the same troop type you have previously selected.

Note: You still cannot change troops after the first wave of a two wave fight.  That has not changed.

Hi everybody! Shortly, we will open a testing phase for an army management improvement functionality. It means that during the test period, randomly selected users will be able to replace injured or fallen units with new units of the same type with a click of a newly added button.

We are sorry for any inconvenience you might experience due to the test. While we always aim to avoid it, testing new features in such a manner is crucial for verifying the performance of a feature and its effects on player behavior. For more information, please refer to our earlier post on testing: https://forum.en.forgeofempires.com/index.php?threads/regarding-a-b-tests-in-forge.45371/

We thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Your Forge of Empires Team

Changes coming to FoE

In no particular order here's what to expect.  Some have already been announced.

GElv6-10

GbG with blue stat fighting

Auto troop refill - when a player sets the troop formations the game will automatically replace killed and injured troops of the same type after the battle is complete.  For 2 wave fights it will auto refill after the second wave but not before.

Production quests will migrate to same age.  Starting with the Summer Event Rival quests FoE will exclusively use productions of the same age.  This change will not be immediate and for all game mechanics.  For example the Summer Event quests will have what we're used to now.  Eventually we will no longer be able to put a bunch of blacksmiths down for events so best to get the pumpkins now.

GB's are getting a makeover.  We have seen settlement buildings get an upgrade that transformed them from store items to the best buildings to have in a city.  The GB changes will not be as big.  They are a slight improvement.  This is an acknowledgement from Inno that power creep has rendered most GB obsolete and they're course correcting.  The plan was to start with the worst buildings (Colosseum) and work their way up to the most popular GB's.  One particular dev thinks it's funny to start with the Arc.  The golden upgrade image has now been widely seen.  He thinks it would be funny to offer the golden upgrade at level 250 and have that degrade over time back to 249.  In my view there's no way this happens or at least it won't happen first despite the artwork being completed for this asset.

Heroes will be rolled out very soon.  It's basically just a limited time boost that's then time-gated before you can use it again.  If used wisely and plan QI accordingly the alternating red and blue boosts can help struggling players quite a lot.  The full Hero features will not be rolled out until later so we're getting a narrow version at first.

Event buildings including History Event 2024

Link to spreadsheet

This is an updated sorted spreadsheet with all the event buildings in the game.  The intent is to help people decide what to place in their city and what to go for in events.

While this spreadsheet is sorted in a very specific way you can choose to prioritize whatever you want.

My preferred sort is all red and blue boosts, FP and goods per tile.

There are some important caveats.  For red and blue boost I didn’t weigh attack any differently than defense.  I also didn’t include situational boosts like extra for GE or GbG.  So the boosts are the baseline boosts.  I did include the boosts to QI on the spreadsheet but did not factor that into their rating.

The buildings for the Summer Event which is currently on Beta are listed but I didn’t include the numbers because they may change before going to live server.

All buildings show value for SAT.  This spreadsheet is intended to quantify buildings from best to worst and the ranking should hold true in any age even if all the numbers are adjusted to that age.  Some event buildings will plateau slightly differently in any given age but the overall ranking should be good.

I’m not going to spend time on buildings that decay in 10 or 28 days.  They’re all good and worth placing.

I only included fully leveled event buildings so if something has 10 levels I don’t see the need to include lv7.  I did list the golden levels separately when the golden upgrades were not generated by the building itself.  So if a building at lv10 produces silver fragments then when it’s silver produces the golden fragments making a 12 level building I only included the golden lv12.

I did put some GB’s on the spreadsheet.  They are in purple and all values are for lv100 except for Titan GB’s which are lv80.

Understanding the spreadsheet

Building name- straight forward.  I did include some of the most popular sets.  I used the same name you’d find in Mooningcat’s guides so people using the fall sets for example can compare efficiency.

Fragments – X means it either offers no fragments or the fragments aren’t significant enough to be a determining factor.

1 – means the fragments are top quality and worth chasing.  Usually these are the buildings that make fragments for more main event buildings

2- it makes something decent but not top quality or not the quantity to be top quality

Size of the building and total squares including roads is the best way to compare buildings.  The size including road is calculated by assuming the player is running a road down the short side of a building and something is on the other side of the road.  So a 4x6 building of 20 squares also is responsible for 2 tiles of roads making it 24+2=26 squares..

Red attack

Red attack/tile including roads

Red defense

Red defense/tile including roads

Combined red attack and red defense

Column K is combined red attack and defense per tile including roads.

Blue attack

Blue attack/tile including roads

Combined blue attack and blue defense

Column Q combined blue attack and defense per tile including roads

Column R is combined red and blue attack and defense per tile including roads.  If you’re only interested in fight boosts you can sort any of these columns

Column S is FP but some buildings give % chance to get FP packs and things like that so I took a weighted average.

FP’s per tile including roads

U – goods.  I only included current age goods here because anything goods below SAT are devalued.  Any previous age goods are in column W.

V is same age goods per tile including roads

Column X is Red QI boosts.  Could be attack, defense or both.

Column Y is Blue QI boosts.  Could be attack, defense or both.

Column Z is FP+goods per tile including roads

Finally column AA.  This is the main sort stat.  All fight boosts plus FP plus goods per tile including roads.

St Patty's day Rival Quests

The rival challenges to make it simple and explain the 4 parallel quest lines.

1)            Negotiate GE

2)            Fight GE

All of those quests autocomplete after 64GE

3)            Town managers

4)            Use speed ups

The easiest way to do a rival quest is to do it all on a fresh city.

On that city set the managers to the following levels.

Shipyard and festival lv5

All the rest to lv4

The GE and managers can all be done prior to the quest.

The last series of speedups have to be done when they’re presented.  They are, in order

Skip time 2x’s

Before the second skip time quest you will have 6 quick promotion prizes to level up your managers for free.  You  get 2 more after the next skip time quest.  Make sure you use 4 of these on festival manager 4 and 5 and shipyard manager 4 and 5

Skip time 2x’s

Skip time 3x’s

Skip time 3x’s

Those are all 2hrs and if you get the speedup prizes it won’t cost any pots

The longer-time speed ups cost pots and it’s up to you if it’s worth it.

4hr time skip 2x’s gives finish all event production

8hr time skip 1 time gives selection kit for Glassworks

Completing all the quests also gives you a good prize that I believe is supposed to be a surprise so will leave it at that.

Quantum Incursions explained

It's a settlement/GE type game.  It will be introduced on the Beta server I believe on Feb 1st and PC only.

The mobile version will then come out and there should be a lengthy test period on beta before it goes to live server.

This game feature will come online after GvG has been removed.  It is not a replacement for GvG.  It is nothing like GvG.  The bad marketing for this new game feature is very misleading.

You have to build a settlement.  You will need goods and military units that match your current QI season.  The settlement goes away and you build another one for the next season.  You also need housing and cultural buildings to make your citizens very enthusiastic to get a 1.5 production multiplier for 200% happiness.

Seasons start the week after a new GbG and lasts 11 days.  So we will alternate every Thursday between a new GbG and a new QI.  6 seasons comprise one championship (3 months)

When the championship is over guilds will be rewarded with:

  • FP's
  • quantum medals
  • building selection kits and fragments

*****note:  Medals are the real prize of playing QI.  You can use quantum medals to buy expansions in your main city!  Yes you read that correctly.  The top guilds will be able to have larger cities.  If you think guilds are hoarding top players now because of GbG changes you aint seen nothing yet.

The quantum medals can be earned when the first QI is released but the feature to buy expansions isn't in the game yet and probably won't be for some time.

You only use troops produced in your settlement (not main city) and your AO, Traz, Kraken etc do not apply to QI.  Your red and blue attack boost from your city do not apply.

Some buildings in your city will boost QI attack bonus and those are the tourney and forgotten temple.  The tool tip will be changed before QI launches to reflect the QI specific boosts.  They were 50 and 25% respectively for me.  It's a big difference from fighting with 5k bonus vs. 75.

The tool tips and some of the graphics still show the old terminology of encounters, raids, raid rewards etc.

Whenever I use any word just insert the word "quantum" before it.  So map is quantum map.  Toilet paper is quantum toilet paper.  It's quantum madness y'all!

Ok the map has "nodes" (think encounters from GE).  On each node you either fight or use resources to get past it.  Once a node is completed you use "quantum actions" to get to the next node.  Quantum actions is a currency you need to move from node to node.

Quantum Actions:

Has a max value of 100k and if less than that will recharge at a rate of 5k/hr.  Residential buildings will boost the recharge rate but remember to keep them citizens very happy.

Quantum shards:

another new currency

The quantum shards are used to boost productions, progress faster and get more quantum actions.

You get quantum shards by clearing nodes, buying them with diamonds or ......wait for it....buying a quantum pass!!!!!  I should note that while your settlement is reset every season your  quantum pass lasts for the entirety of the championship (6 seasons).

Yes just like an event pass but it's quantum so good right?  So you get a milestone reward with every 30 points and there is a silver and gold option to get more rewards just like in events.

Pick some quantum officers that know what they're doing because this role is important.  These officers can chose the map difficulty.  The harder the map the better the rewards.  While in the map they also chose what path to follow.  They can also put targets on the map to guild the guild when they're offline.

Rewards:

When you complete a node (the beta version might still use the word encounter) you get progress points and a CHANCE of a reward that will include any of the following.

  • FP's
  • Goods (previous, current or next era)
  • quantum actions, supplies, coins or shards
  • fragments of the new buildings

QI has 10 levels of increasing difficulty.  At the end of an incursion you get a chest reward like we do in events.  Free chests are awarded at 40 and 160 progress points.  What's inside the chests will be determined by the highest level of difficulty your guild completed.

If you didn't get enough progress to open a free chest you can use quantum shards to open them.  The shard cost increases with every chest (think St Patty's day event end of city chest opening).

Reward Buildings:  Using top level and space age titan stats:

Neo Colossus lv8 base then lv9 silver, lv10 gold  I believe the silver and gold will be behind the quantum pass paywall but we'll see in a week or so after it launches.

  • lv10
  • no road required
  • 44 red and blue att/att deff
  • 43 red and blue att/att def for GbG
  • 53 red and blue att/att def for GE
  • 31 FP
  • 183 current age goods
  • 320 guild goods
  • 10 of 1000 fragments needed for selection kit of Neo Marble Gateway

Neo Marble Gateway

  • lv2
  • no road required
  • 10 red and blue att/att def
  • 25 red att/att def GbG  (blue stats will be added when blue fighting begins in GbG)
  • 31 blue att/att def GE
  • 12 FP

Neo Winner's Plaza

  • lv2
  • red and blue att/att def 20
  • red and blue att/att def GbG 22
  • 16 FP
  • 72 goods
  • 75 guild goods

Neo Botanical Rotunda

  • 22 red and blue att/att def
  • 28 red and blue att/att def GE
  • 14 FP
  • 82 previous age goods
  • 45 guild goods

Wildlife Event 2024 just the strategy part of the guide

Wildlife Event 2024

This is not going to be an in-depth guide as this event mechanic is well-known at this point.  There is on bit of strategy I have yet to see from other people.

This event like all events have rush quests then daily quests after that.  The event lasts for a month so there really is no hurry.  All the event quests can be done in one day.  Three days if you don’t want to use supply rush speed ups.  The live version of the event is easier than the Beta where many people struggled to get the main prize.

There will also be three rounds of Rival quests, each lasting two days during this event.

I will post all the quests including the Rival quests at the end here.  The quests that can be prepared in advance will be highlighted in yellow to make it very easy.

This event has a simple use a ticket to play a board mechanic.  You start with 4 tickets which is the most the bar can hold and when it’s less than 4 you accumulate one ticket every 8 hours.  That means playing a minimum of 3 boards per day regardless of what the daily special is.

When the Rival quests pop  up you only have 2 days before it disappears and you don’t get any notice.  Those quests will require you to use tickets to complete them.

The only real strategy in this event is maximizing ticket efficiency to get the good daily prize.  There’s a few ways to do that.

1)      Every third rush or daily quest rewards you with a ticket.  Once you complete that quest objective don’t collect the reward.  Just leave it until a good daily prize is up.

2)      Have a plan in advance in regards to what daily prizes you will be spending tickets on.  You cannot hoard until the end so you’re going to have to be more flexible on this.

3)      Do the daily challenges as you can get event currency, tickets or golden tickets.  You have to claim these so you’re probably going to be playing boards with suboptimal daily quests.

4)      The rival quests are easier on live server by a wide margin.  One of the tools in the game allows you to eliminate one color from the board.  I’d recommend using this tool when the quests ask you to collect x number of 6 star boxes.  By eliminating one of the colors it makes completing this quest easy.  Remember when they ask for a 6 star box it has to be exactly 6.  Getting a 7 will not count.  Rival will also ask you to extend boards multiple times which uses event currency.  Normally extending boards is not recommended and playing extra boards on a day where the daily prize is bad is also not recommended.  But if you want to do the Rival quest line then read the rival quests at the bottom of this page and see how much event currency you’ll need to save to do it.

5)      This last part I have yet to see anyone explain.  How can you have 5 tickets at once?  Ok the ticket bar will hold 4 tickets max.  Golden tickets are separate and those stack so not included here.  The strategy is to do 3 boards a day always leaving one ticket in the ticket bar.  Leave two if you login frequently.  That will give you flexibility for the rival quests.  But if you have a bad daily special what you can do is after you switched daily prizes if still bad then start a board but don’t play it.  You have used that ticket and it will be replaced in 8hrs.  Your turns will remain when the server resets for the next daily prize.  If that’s not good then switch it but regardless of what it is then you have to play that board.  So you can have 4 tickets in your bar and one opened but not playing.  Try to time it so the 4th ticket shows up after reset so you can do those 5 tickets, plus the prize you won on the quests that you didn’t collect, plus the golden tickets plus all the other rush and daily tickets you get.  When there is a good daily prize you can set it up to have lots of tickets to try and get it.

Other than that, enjoy the candy crush game.

Last advice and this goes with any event building that makes silver upgrade fragments and then golden upgrade fragments for itself.  Do not use selection kits to upgrade it to silver or gold.  Save those selection kits to make more event buildings and let that leveled event building make its own silver and gold upgrades.

Here is a quick ranking to see the new event buildings (in blue) and how they stack up to existing event buildings now so you can decide what to go for.

1.9 levelling explained

When you invest in other people’s GB the top 5 spots get a

reward when it is levelled.

The Arc GB increases that return.  A lv 80 Arc gives you a 90% bonus so a 100fp
return now returns you 190fp.

That’s the basis of 1.9 levelling.  People with lv 80 Arcs take spots in your GB
without loss to them at 1.9 the return amount.
This drastically reduces the amount of FP required by the GB owner to
level it.

Your responsibility is to “secure” the spots before posting
in a 1.9 thread.  If you are a PC player
there is an extension called “FoE helper”.
It’s safe to use and will do all the math for you.  Mobile players have aps or sites that do
similar things but I cannot advise on any of that.  You can also figure out the amounts manually
or ask your guild for help.

So here are the steps in order when posting:

Secure the spot (ask for help if you don't know how) then post the spot as follows
Post all remaining spots that need taking then add yours to the end.

Player Name GB name p5 p4 p3 p2 p1
Include amounts if you know the amount and only secure spots but list them from p5 to p1 or just the spots you want taken.
The reason is people will take the top spot first so it just makes it easier to take the farthest right spot and not edit within a line so....
Player Name GB name p1 p2 p3 p4 p5

The p1 spot has to be taken first so the person taking the spot now has to edit the line instead of just deleting the one spot on the right.

How to take 1.9 spots.
The order here is very important.

1) claim spot
2) add FP to spots you claimed
3) repost all remaining spots that need to be taken

Claim the spot you are taking first.  This prevents two people adding to the same GB at the same time.  Don't be the jerk player who's too cool for this step as you will cause problems that are easily prevented.

If you see something that looks like this

Player A Arc p5
Player B Traz p4 p3

And you plan to take p5 orf the arc and p3 of the traz you can post

"53"

That lets people know you are taking spots and they can wait a minute for you to post the remaining spots.  What if you're already on that Traz and can't take p3?  The person after you has to wait for you to finish taking spots.  When you are done adding the FP then repost all the remaining spots.

Player B Traz p4

You can also post the above line instead of 53 or just post "clearing" but post something to indicate spots are being taken.

Lastly if a spot is not secure or it has been sniped just put a note beside the GB then clear it.  There is no point in carrying forward unsecure or sniped spots.

How to keep RQ's if long-term camping in FE?

It's not hard you just have to leave these techs unresearched.

Higher Age Units the easy guide

There are plenty of guides out there and most are good.  Some are hard to follow and there are a few that are flat-out wrong.  I'm putting this out because despite all the guides available (including one already on this blog) people still ask how to do it and there is a need for a hand-holding version.  That's not a pejorative it's just the reality that there is a need for a simple and accurate guide.

Getting troops of a higher age involves pushing the campaign map in a very specific way.  Negotiate some sectors, fight others and completely ignore some.

The other aspect is the tech tree.  Deciding to go for higher age troops means you will leave certain techs unresearched because you will need them later.

Lastly, the third leg of this adventure is working the story quests and side-quests correctly so you do not get blocked.

If you mess up any of these three legs it may be somewhat correctable by forgoing some advanced age troops or by moving to the next age.

You will be getting a lot of side-quests that ask you to research technologies.  Abort those quests.

Higher age troops at any age is an advantage simply because they're stronger.  The sweet spot is getting hoover tank and OF units in Industrial Age and Progressive Era.  There is some debate about which age is better for long-term or forever camping.

My take is I like fighting with Indy troops (2 howitzer+rogue) better than PE troops (8 artillery).  This guide will be geared towards people aiming to stay in Indy for a very simple reason.  If you get the troops in Indy you are free to age up to PE whenever you want.  If you get tech blocked in Indy then you have to age up to PE to continue and I believe in player choice.  That all said I believe PE gives more of an advantage in a long-term camp.  There is more space, no flying units (helicopters in CE) and no stealth units (Jags in Indy) so OF troops are better, and the battlefield is larger giving your superior range more of an advantage.

So why do people go for advanced age troops?

You can plant them in your city defense to surprise potential plunderers.  You can use them to get further on the continent map to get more expansion slots.  Lastly, and more importantly you can use them on tough fights like GElv5 or when you are at you attrition max for same age troops in GbG.

The disadvantage of going for advanced age troops?

You will have to lave a lot of techs unresearched.  A lot of those techs will be expansion slots.  If troops die they are lost forever.  In-game mods can and SOMETIMES do give them back to you but do to people exploiting this that will be rare and never twice on the same account.  After every fight a player has the option to used diamonds to heal or repair a damage or lost troop.  If you click fast to the next fight and don't heal then all the work described in this post could be lost forever.  That is why I don't use them until I've hit my max using same age troops.

Ok so let's get started.

Bronze Age:

This map is showing the fastest route to get to Industrial Age map.  I skipped both bonus sections for higher age troops in Iron Age and LMA.  I do not recommend new players do this but experienced players setting up diamond worlds who want to go straight to Colonial Age this works fine.

Techs to leave unresearched

  • Growing
  • Craftwork

Available Advance age troops:

  • 2- Legionnaire

How to get them?  Don't worry about it.  Bronze is the tutorial age.  Just skip the above techs and get to Iron age so you can start adding to other people's GB's and getting BP's.  Working to get advanced age troops of the next age is silly when you're just going to age up anyways.

Iron Age:

Techs to leave unresearched

  • Sewerage
  • Agriculture
  • Plowing can be left unresearched but you need it to unlock cultural settlements and you should do that and start doing the Vikings settlements

Available advance age troops:

  • 2-Armored Infantry the heavy units of EMA

On the continent map the EMA bonus quest provinces open up after the Iron Age story quest "Makatba" and you conquer the first EMA bonus sector "Dunkenwald".

Continue down to Galgenshlucht, Todespass, Steilsturz and finally Tarmelmann where you will be rewarded with the 2 Armored Infantry.

Make sure to leave a military and cultural tech unresearched until you get these troops

EMA:

Techs to leave unresearched

  • Multistorey Houses
  • Casting
  • Apiary
  • Quarries
  • Crop Rotations
  • Fertilization
  • Monarchy

Available advanced age troops

  • none

But wait that's all the goods techs!  How am I supposed to get goods?  Event buildings and GbG my friend.  You shouldn't be in EMA until you have a few fully leveled event buildings.  That means staying in Iron Age for at least 2-3 months and getting a good foundation before aging up to EMA to get the antique dealer.

HMA:

Techs to leave unresearched

  • Town Houses

Available advanced age troops

  • None

LMA:

Techs to leave unresearched

  • Metal Working
  • Aristocracy
  • Optics
  • Pest Control

Available advanced age troops

  • 2-field guns
  • 5-grenadiers
  • 2-musketeers

If you have followed this guide you will have 14 unresearched techs up to this point.

Near the end of the LMA story quests you will get either "Fight for Freedom" or "Buy Her Freedom".  You have to scout the LMA province "Ravens Creek" to get the two Musketeers.

You can reach these provinces earlier especially if negotiating but this is where working ahead hurts you.  These bonus quests only trigger if you've completed the quest "The Fair Maiden" which is  LMA story quest AND your city is in LMA.

At that point this bonus questline will take over a RQ slot.

Follow the bonus quests do not work ahead.  You can fight or negotiate but....
DO NOT TAKE GRAND GAP!!!!   That will end the bonus questline.

When you are done both ashcrook and queenshope will be taken but do not completely take both until instructed to do so or you will lose out on three grenadiers

A side note the last quest of this bonus quest line rewards 40 diamonds.  50 if you aborted the "Dungeon or Death Sentence" side-quest.

Colonial Age:

Techs to leave unresearched

  • Porcelain
  • Industrial Goods

Available advanced age troops

  • 3 breech loader
  • 1 howitzer
  • 2 jaeger infantry
  • 1 lancer
  • 6 rifleman but we're only going for three of them
Techs required
  • 2 military
  • 1 residential
  • 1 production

Map shows the 5 provinces that have to be taken on the Industrial Age Map.
The Industrial Age questline can be triggered while you're still in Colonial Age.  Doing so will result in the loss of a RQ slot.  To avoid this....
  • negotiate the two bottom provinces
  • fight the three top provinces
To get more diamonds....
  • negotiate any sector in the top provinces that have natives as defenders.
The guide that Ubernerd and Mooningcat use show green and red provinces but it's flawed.

The problem is it shows to do three more sectors and one of them is Las Penas.  Taking this province will trigger the bonus questline that cannot be completed until you are in Indy so you will lose a RQ slot.

Why are we only going for three instead of six riflemen?  People may disagree with this point but do this enough and you will see the logic in what I'm about to say.

Getting all the advanced aged troops is like getting a trophy.  Most of them will sit in your inventory and never be used.  Rifleman is that type of troop.  It's very weak.  It doesn't retaliate with melee hits.  It is a poor choice to use even against grenadiers from the age below.  It is a bad choice when pairing with rogues because it won't retaliate after being converted.  We can talk about this again when the user has an option to pick which troops they will get from a selection of options.

While in Colonial Age you can also gets some braves.  (Remember the native defenders we didn't fight on the map?)  They are more trophies we will never use.

Lastly while in Colonial we can get some Progressive Era units.  Now these are useful.

You should have 12 unresearched techs at this time.

Progressive Era:

I'm going to explain how to get the Rapid Fire Cannon (RFC) while still in Colonial Age because this unit plus rogues is what you will be using on the continent map.

You will need one military tech and then have to progress to Industrial Age to get more troops.

The screen shot above shows the first part of the PE map and it's only these four provinces that matter.  What you do on these first four provinces will determine what advanced age troops you get from this map.

Take the first province of the PE map named "Havre".  It doesn't matter if you fight or negotiate.  To get the RFC you have to fight Uxrow and Omoien provinces.

You will need to fight these sectors and research a military tech.  By fighting Uxrow and Omoien you will later get two tanks after you age up to Industrial AGE.

This is as far as you can go while your city in in Colonial Age.

If you are still in Colonial Age stop advancing on the continent map until you get to Industrial Age.

Once Uxrow and Omoien are conquered then you can fight or negotiate the rest of PE map but make sure to take Kriegreich first.  Then just follow the quests until the next age.

Techs to leave unresearched

  • none

Available advanced age troops

  • 1 Rapid Fire Cannon while in Colonial Age
  • 2 Tanks
  • 1 armored car
  • 3 conscripts
Techs needed
5 techs, 2 of which are military, 1 decoration.  All of these can be in the first part of the Industrial Age tech tree.

You will also need 3 police stations unlocked later in the Industrial Age cultural tech.  You can hope to win these in events or you can bite the bullet and research it.  Just know that Inno hates you and will give you a bunch of them in the event immediately after you unlock the tech but if you wait it may take years to win them so just just unlock the tech.  This is a reward for you for leaving all those early techs unresearched.

You should still have these seven techs of the Industrial Age unresearched along with the twelve from previous ages for 19 total unresearched techs.

Modern Era:

Techs to leave unresearched

  • none

Available advanced age troops

  • 2 battle tank
  • 7 bazooka teams
  • 2 mechanized infantry
  • 2 paratrooper

Techs needed:

1 tech of any kind.  Now you can unlock one of the early age expansion slots

***If you are short on unresearched techs you can negotiate all of Natsuishu and this will prevent the tech research but also cost you 3 bazooka teams

Player starts in the top green province Inashu and moves counter-clockwise.

Fight all the green and red provinces completely to get the most troops.  The grey provinces can be fought or negotiated.

Side quest "Rin Gozen's Warriors" will give 4 bazooka teams (light units).

After completing Kibakuguchi the player will get 3 more bazooka teams.

Scouting the red provinces gives paratroopers

Toimuro and Hiromaguchi (red provinces) are fight completely and you will get 2 battle tanks (heavy) and 2 mechanized infantry (fast).

You should have 18 unresearched techs at this time

Postmodern Era:

Techs to leave unresearched

  • none

Available advanced age troops

  • 7 commando
  • 5 MG Teams
  • 1 Champion
  • 2 rocket artillery

Techs needed

  • 3 techs not specific

The side quest "guerilla warfare" will be triggered if you've already scouted the PME map and have completed some side-quests.

Complete the following side-quests

  • guerilla warfare
  • supply chain
  • predator

The green provinces are owned by Che.  Only negotiate on these provinces and only completely take one of them, not both.  Around 20 quests in you will be asked to take the second Che province, remember to negotiate only.

This age has a tech blocker that will prevent you from getting troops of a higher age than PME so follow these next steps carefully.

Do not complete the PME story questline.  When you see the quest, "Your Choice: Truth or Dare" just stop.  At the end of this guide we will circle back to the PME questline for some additional troops.

Do not complete or abort that quest.  This is your forever quest and cannot be completed until you age your city up to PME or you are done getting OF troops and want to return the questline back to PME.  Most importantly, DO NOT PAY THE COINS ON THIS QUEST.  This will become important later when we get all the OF troops.

Continue the continent map until you can get to the next age.  By getting to the next age (Contemporary Era) and aborting a side quest that isn't truth or dare we can skip the tech blocker.  Just keep that uncompleted.  Seriously.

Now to get past this tech blocker we are going to get to CE, complete all the provinces except two which we won't even scout then get to TE.

In TE we will conquer two provinces and scout a third then abort a quest that is not truth or dare.

Until we get to that third province in TE just leave all your quests alone.

You should have 15 unresearched techs at this time

Contemporary Era:

Scout the CE map.

Do not scout "salfah" and "suqqah" provinces.  They are the two western provinces that are not scouted here.  Take the rest of the provinces so you can get to the TE map.  Negotiate the first four provinces to increase the diamond reward in the CE questline.

Tomorrow Era:

Completely take Villariba and Torrinhos  then scout "Rio Roxo".  Now we can abort a side-quest that isn't truth or dare.  Seriously do not touch that quest.  Don't make eye contact with it.  It may see it as a sign of aggression and auto-complete.  (kidding, maybe but don't mess with it)

You can go further to the FE map but don't do that.  You'll miss out on a lot of TE troops which most will need to conquer the FE map and this method only requires one more tech.  It's worth it.

Once the story quests are in TE you can then completely take Rio Roxo and get all the troops in TE.  If you take this province first then you will miss out on all those troops.

So in summary here is what will happen.

You abort a side-quest while Rio Roxo is scouted but not conquered.

You will get one CE quest

Now your quests are caught up and in TE.

Techs to leave unresearched

  • none

Available advanced age troops

  • 2 combat drones
  • 2 anti-material snipers
  • 2 stealth tanks
  • 1 champion of CE

Techs needed

  • 1 tech not specific so grab another expansion slot from early ages
You are free to fight or negotiate this map but I would suggest after you conquer the yellow province you take the province south Bajatai.  You will get your first TE units by choosing this route (2 combat drone).  The quests will instruct you to go north instead of scout the one province south.  Follow the quests north.

Some of the side quests are impossible to complete for example

It's ok to just abort these.

Story quest Mad Miranda will award 2 anti-material snipers
Story quest strike fast, strike hard will award 2 stealth tanks
Story quest back from the dead will award a champion of the contemporary era.
and 44 story quests with only one required tech later we're on to the new continent map.

You should have 14 unresearched techs at this time

Future Era:

Available advanced age troops

  • 4 hover tank
  • 2 rail guns
  • 6 exoskeleton soldiers
  • 2 satellite spotters
  • 2 drone swarms

Techs needed

  • 3 non-specific techs
Ok dear reader you've made it this far so please take this next thing to heart.  You have to negotiate all sectors of Agadar which is the first province.  If you don't negotiate any sector you will only get 1 hover tank instead of 4.  You did a lot of work to get here so don't screw up now.

The order of provinces here is a bit weird so I will use their names and just follow along with your map.

scout Omogba and conquer
scout Esan-Ewu but wait
scout Owopele and conquer
scout Jak.
You will now get a story quest to take Esan-Ewu and it's ok to take all sectors

You must negotiate Jak or it will cost you another tech.  If you are following Mooningcat's guide he doesn't include this part.

If you take Esan-Ewu right away you will miss a quest and the 100 purified water reward.

Continue on the map until you get to Kolaburg.
Do not take all the sectors until you get the quest "down the rabbit hole".
If you take Kolaburg before you get this quest you will need one more tech.

Once you scout and take Botuku you can scout Bisoraba and Kalabuye but don't take any sectors.
You will start getting story quests to take sectors of Bisoraba.  Just follow those quests until you have 4 Hover tanks.  Once you have them you are free to take all of Bisoraba and Kalabuye.  If you have negotiated Agadar and Jak but still have not gotten the 4 hover tanks then you have to negotiate Kalabuye as well.  This normally happens when players are instructed to infiltrate a sector but they conquer it instead hoping it will auto-complete.  Don't do that.  Follow the quests.

Scout Fort Buntu.  Fight all sectors until you get 2 satellite spotters and 2 rail guns.  Once you have them you can fight or negotiate as you wish.

You should have 11 unresearched techs at this time

Arctic Future

How are you doing on unresearched techs?  If running low you can negotiate the AF map and save one tech.  It is a very specific path and very specific about what can be fought and what can be negotiated.

If you are not short on techs then just fight all sectors.  None are skippable.

If you need to save one tech then you have to negotiate the first 5 native owned provinces (Nutarniq, Iluliaq, Tuklavik, Ananevut and Qaniit)

You must fight a minimum of one sector in Nilak and Nunataq.

The rest you are free to negotiate or fight and you will save one tech.

Available advanced age troops

  • 14 recon raider
  • 10 battle fortress
  • 11 surrogate soldier

Techs needed

  • 4 non-specific techs
You should have 7 unresearched techs at this time

Oceanic Future:

Some sectors will cost promethium or orichalcum to negotiate so hopefully you can fight all sectors.  It will not change diamond reward or troop reward if you negotiate or fight.

Available advanced age troops

  • 6 CRAB Mech
  • 6 Hydroelectric Eel
  • 2 Mantra
  • 8 Sub Cruiser
  • 4 Turturret (turtles yeah!)

Techs needed

  • 5 non-specific techs
Work the map, follow the quests.  Once you hit the quest "Persuasion" then this wonderful adventure is over.  That quest cannot be completed until you reach OF so you will have that RQ lost forever potentially.

It is now time to complete or abort this quest.

But I have one more reward for you for making it this far.
The last quest that rewards troops or diamonds in this OF adventure is called "Ryan's Goal".
Complete this quest.

The next quests are (in order)
  • Onwards
  • Expanding
  • Unclaimed
  • Seeking
  • Second Chance
  • and the last tech blocker Persuasion

If you have not completed both conditions of truth or dare (gain supplies will be complete but don't pay coin) and you abort this quest before you reach Persuasion then you can get 2 PME Rocket Artillery from the PME storyline.

You should have 2 unresearched techs at this time

Ok dear reader you made it to the end.  You started saving techs in the bronze age and we ended up with two to spare.  You have hover tanks and turtles in Indy!

But what if you didn't save all those techs?

You go to progressive era.  You can get RFC with only three techs and you can slowly use the rest of the techs as you need them.
