Winter Event for Beta

 embargo until 24th

Begins on Beta server Oct 26 and ends November 27, 2026

This is a copy/paste from previous Winter events with the following elements.

  • -shuffle board
  • -super board
  • -calendar
  • - predatory piggy bank mechanic that should be avoided at all costs

The shuffle board is pretty simple.

Event currency is wooden bells which you get from completing quests (and there are a lot of quests) and collecting incidents.  It costs 10 wooden bells to visit a house and there are 16 houses on the board.

Each normal board will have a:

  • show 2
  • double payout
  • shuffle
  • snowman part OR key for calendar

We don't like any type of shuffle mechanic as it removes skill and strategy and substitutes dumb luck instead.  There is still some strategy involved but it is mostly luck.  Not all but mostly.

Super Board

You need to collect three snowman parts on regular boards and your next board will be a super board.

Do not unlock the superboard unless you have enough currency to clear it completely and do so BEFORE reset.  If the board is opened AND it is not complete by reset your super board will be reset to a regular board.

If your strategy is to get into gold league then your strategy should be to play as many superboards as possible which means targeting snowman parts.  So if that is your strategy that may mean skipping days where the normal board is showing a key instead of snowman piece.

Super boards have:

  • 2-4 progress points per house
  • 2 - show 2
  • 2 - double rewards
  • no shuffle

Boosters:

snowball blast clears ordinary rewards.  What it does not clear is show 2, double rewards, shop coins, keys or snowman parts.  It does clear shuffle.

toy radar exposes the special tiles.  (shuffle, show two and double rewards).  It does not show key or snowman parts.

sleigh combo - doubles the next reward.  This stacks with double rewards so you can get 4x whatever you are targeting and is perfect for snowball parts.  It's good to keys two but you only get one full key and 3 parts if you hit it with a 4x reward.

A solid strategy is to use the snowball blast on normal boards where you're trying to find the key or snowman part and avoid the shuffle.

Use the toy radar and sleigh combo on super boards to maximize rewards.

The following abomination of an event mechanic is the Piggy Bank

It's a scam designed to get new players to spend diamonds.  You have to spend diamonds on one or the other prizes (or both for more diamonds!) and they collect in the piggy bank at the bottom.  Once that bank is full you can then buy the prizes with more diamonds.  The previous diamonds was just to select the prizes they are not yours.  Oh no for that dear player you need to spend more diamonds.  Just avoid it and we won't talk about it again until it pops up in the spring.

Calendar

Whenever you play the boards you can get one full key per day.  If your goal is to complete the calendar then a solid strategy is to play daily and once you get a key then stop playing until after reset.  You need five key parts to make one full key so it's really not worth chasing key parts.  Use your currency on full keys.

Just so you know about 1/5 boards will have a key and the rest have snowman parts.  So you may be spending a lot of currency just to get a board with a key on it.

Event shop

two currencies one for each shop.  Premium currency only found on super board.

lantern coins can only hold 20 so check the base shop daily for discounts and don't hit that cap.  Daily purchase limit, one free manual refresh, refreshes daily and the discounts rotate.

starlight coins are the premium coin, no cap and no discount.  Items will refresh weekly.  If there is something that you like and you have the coins for it then spend it.

Leagues

same as usual for events now

Rival challenges are back for this event and the rewards are mostly boosters for the boards.

REWARDS

The master spreadsheet has been updated to include the rewards buildings from the Winter Event.

This is the first event since the Arthur event where the gold league and calendar event buildings are worth chasing.  Unlike the Arthur event the main building is meh so the Arthur event still is king for now.  The other downside to the reward buildings in this event is the population costs.

So the main event building makes fragments for the Peppermint Confectionery.  The base level of that building is not great but the ascended version is outstanding.  Problem is the population cost for just one building may be prohibitive and certainly multiple are not feasible.  So what does it matter if you have 50 of the base lv1 versions in inventory?  If the main building was better this could have been an excellent event.  As it stands right now if I had to chose gold league or calendar completion I'd have to go with calendar to maintain one ascended main building.  That's a shame because the Arthur event had it all and it was fun.  We could use more fun in this game.  Ok on with the rewards.

Main event building is Tidings Press Tower lv 8 which makes silver fragments

Radiant Tidings Press Tower is the silver lv 9 version and it makes the gold fragments

Gilded Tidings Press Tower is the golden lv 10 version and it does NOT make platinum or ascended selection kits.  So let's start with that.
