Inno is showing what they think of their player base.

Let me show you what prompted this post.

Now if you happen to be in Iron Age there's no problem but for literally every other age this is a huge F-you to the player base.

It's bad enough that they already ask for goods production from previous age.  It's even worse when they ask for troop production of a previous age but now production?  Seriously go F-yourself.

So a player in SASH will have to do 24hr productions 26 time of a previous age production building.  Get bent.

  1. Am curious if you have any updates on the GB update that is supposedly being ruled out sometime in Q1. We are a third of the way through Q1 and have heard nothing...the quality of this update will also show what Inno thinks of their player base...

    1. Hello I'm going to be very careful in terms of what is said here as there is an embargo in place. We do not know all the changes. The teaser should be out soon like very soon but we do not have exact date.
The graphics were completed on Jan 15 or 16 and that's normally the last part to come in.

One to two weeks after the teaser there will be an announcement of the first cluster of GB's. We have to respect the embargo so Inno can roll-out the changes without spoilers.

The update will be a mixed bag. Overall we view it as a net positive but there are glaring flaws and those flaws will unfortunately make it into live server. We'll go over it when we're allowed to and we're still waiting on the last batch of GB's and the new age GB's so hoping for the best.
Our stance is we want the GB's to be great. To do that they have to be scalable.
to compete with the special building power creep. Unless there are some major last minute changes it appears they will not scale at the same rate so they will be obsolete again in under 2 years.

    2. Thank you, this is a great answer to my question. When you are able to make a post about it, it would be great to hear your thoughts on what we should do to prep leading into the change, as well as what gbs are now viable (basically what is the new hierarchy now). I'm not expecting this extra info, but it would be awesome to hear. This blog always has such great info and takes on game developments. Thanks!

  2. Thank you for the kind words. It helps offset the hate mail we get.
We're just waiting for the last batch of GB's to add to the draft post and a final confirmation of how the base tier will be handled. We've received conflicting reports on that. Our normal solid as a rock source is saying one thing and the new source that is high up on the food chain is saying another thing. We're guessing that's intentional misinformation so we're not publishing either format or compensation to existing player's GB over level 100.

Now what should you do now. We can't advise on that as the future isn't unknown but it does appear to be undecided.

The only bullet proof safe thing to do is level any existing GB's in your city to lv 100 then stop. Don't plant new GB's until all the changes are confirmed. If all your GB's are lv 100 or higher then I'd try real hard to bank FP collections by investing in other people's GB.
As we stand right now there is a very real possibility that any FP invested in your own GB on a building over lv 100 will be completely wasted so best to convert FP bar into FP bank if possible.

The other thing is lower age goods may become very valuable. It may be worth trading down and getting a healthy supply of say iron age goods if you plan to level Zeus into silver and gold tiers. There are also two unannounced tiers after that to make the GB's scalable. We will explain how that plan doesn't meet the moment when it's announced but all those tiers may require goods of the GB's age to level.

    1. I for one always appreciate what you guys do here, so keep up the good work.

So, reading between the lines, does this mean that all the FP spent on my GBs that are over level 100 (which is all of them), some even over 200, is essentially going to be wasted? Having to use goods from the gb's age to level is a horrible idea, here's to hoping the community outcry will stop this again.

    2. I agree not being compensated for forge points spent beyond level 100 is bad. However I do not agree that using goods from a GBs age to do advanced levelling is bad. It makes goods production and trading relevant, forces the players to make real strategic choices on their gameplay and outcomes for themselves or guilds. It could also reward players who choose not to advance to space ages. The most frequent trades I see are for titan goods because of their GBs.
I think this will also balance the game in terms of narrowing power creep between event and Qi buildings.

    3. RE: FP spent on GB over lv 200
Depending on which method they use to make your current GB a bronze lv 100 you may be compensated (in a way to be determined) if it's above what they consider the maximum level.
So for example in the previous plan to condense GB's they determined a GB's maximum level which mostly but not always coincided with a level to which going beyond was cost prohibitive for little reward. For some buildings for no reward.
So the SASH GB's right now going above lv 100 is pointless. The cost outweighs the reward.
      For ARC it's lv 180.
So the plan was (underline was) they condense all Arcs lv 100 and higher to bronze lv 100.
Anyone that had an Arc lv 101 to 180 would have just lost all that investment as the bronze lv 100 gave the same bonus as the current lv 180. However anyone that had a higher level arc say lv 200 would be compensated for levels 181-200. Probably not entirely but because the GB was above the condensed level then there would be some compensation.
To me the easy solution would be to give players levels on the silver tiers to compensate for levels over 100 but they really, really did not like that. They want players to experience the process of getting silver BP and levelling that way.

Whatever the final process of getting current GB's and converting them to bronze tier 1 I can almost guarantee that community feedback will not change the plan. There are people who believe listening to the community was the mistake last time. Honestly given how long it's been I would rather have a bad plan implemented where we take the loss but have the new system in place than to do what we're doing now and trying to deal with the uncertainty.

    4. RE: Goods of a GB's age, coin, supply and medals to level new GB tier system

Inno wishes to make every form of currency valuable so when you win supplies, coins, blue prints etc in events it has some value. So coins and goods for SAT GB's, supplies, goods and special goods for one of the two SASH GB's.
In game development it's called a sink. So a coin sink, supply sink etc. It's a way to remove surplus currency to balance the market.
I don't object to a goods sink. In my main city I produce almost 40k Sash goods a day so trading 1:1 for iron age or 2 of mine for 1 iron age is no big deal. The issue is in high-end guilds there are no players in lower ages. The players that do camp in lower ages do not produce goods in high volume.
So let's say the CdM starts producing blue QI boosts and/or the Virgo Project starts producing red QI boosts and there is suddenly a rush to build both in your guild. The VP goods will be fairly easy to get as Mars is a good camping age and there's probably a few people in the guild in that age that can stay a month or two and sell those goods.
How many people are in LMA in high-end guilds? So people needing talc powder may just be putting one-sided trades on the market that are never taken.
I know what Inno wants you to do in that case and it isn't to build a talc cutter. They want you to buy the gold pass in an event to get the reversion kit (opposite of reno kit) for a high volume goods producing event building then age it up to whatever age you need goods.

  4. InnoGames no longer has any talent. Those folks all moved on long ago. The only ones left are money grubbing hacks trying to squeeze every last penny out of a dying game.
