New QI rebalance we did the math so you don't have to

Here's the link to the master spreadsheet.

Find the tab at the bottom labelled, "New QI Settlement Buildings".

We have listed all the buildings by type and listed the new costs and rewards.  The changes are significant as it has changed the meta.

If you're one of the people that complain when we spoil events as it robs you of the joy of discovering and exploring the mechanic then why are you reading this?

The new meta buildings are highlighted and we justify it by value per square.  So supply and culture has a new meta.

Goods are the same but you will have to delay when you can build them due to new chrono cost.  Honey, gunpowder and ropes are still the ones to select.

Decorations are a compromise as they were before.  You have boost per square but when factoring the cost to build then boost per square may not be right for you.  If you don't have a lot of fight boost in your main city then it appears the old strategy works best.  Build four to six of the 2x2 single color fight boosts early then 1x1 single color by map eight or nine.  That allows you to build a strong settlement, fight and maximize settlement space.

Fighting is interesting.  The traditional cannons vs. everything may not be the best strategy.  Enemy heavy units are nasty and can wreck the squishy artillery units.  We started experimenting with 4 heavy, 4 artillery on later maps and it worked really well.  In our view it's worth the cost of 2 cartographers (same settlement space) to fight with those mixed units.

If you play on Beta you are using this new rebalanced system now.

If you play on live server you may see this rebalance on Christmas Day.

Ally Changes come to Beta server Nov 25, 2025

There will be an announcement soon but here are the broad strokes.

The changes will be rolled-out all at time (not all at once) so we'll deal with the immediate changes.

The rarity limitation will be removed from event buildings so any building that can house an ally will be able to house any ally.  This change allows players to remove outdated buildings that may be housing an older but high level ally.  This change should not be controversial as there is no downside to it.

Current problems that should be addressed with this update.

  • convoluted levelling system
  • you could level common allies easier (take less xp to level) and thus make them stronger than their lower level but higher rarity counterparts.
  • people can hoard XP scrolls
  • using scrolls was confusing because the relative strength and number of the scroll didn't directly translate to an easy to understand improvement of your ally.

Some of the existing allies will be getting a boost to put them more in-line with the newest allies.  By streamlining the allies (new and existing) it allows inno to use a simple levelling system.  One heroic scroll equals one XP.  Simple.

XP scroll storage will be capped at 250,000 No more hoarding.

Valor tokens will be capped at 100,000 this is the new currency used to ascend your allies.  You will be able to "ascend" your ally to the next rarity.

When the skill system comes out an ally will get one specific skill per rarity level.  The skills are separate from their base boosts and will level the same regardless of rarity.

New QI buildings coming to Beta Nov 20, 2025

There will be two new buildings and some balance changes coming in the next championship starting on Beta Nov 20, 2025 and I believe January 2026 on live servers.Dec 25 for live servers

Reward Buildings:

Neo Zigurath lv 1

  • 3x3 requires road
  • 80 % red attack and defense
  • 150 % red attack and defense GE
  • 85 % red attack and defense GbG
  • 80 FP
  • 15 BP

Neo Zigurath lv 2

  • 3x3 no road required
  • 100 % red attack and defense
  • 176 % red attack and defense GE
  • 110 % red attack and defense GbG
  • 95 FP
  • 30 BP

Neo Tree of Love lv 1

  • 75 % blue attack and defense
  • 95 % blue attack and defense GE
  • 90 % blue attack and defense GbG
  • 57 FP
  • 155 goods

Neo Tree of Love lv 2

  • 91 % blue attack and defense
  • 118 % blue attack and defense GE
  • 109 % blue attack and defense GbG
  • 68 FP
  • 194 goods

The master spreadsheet has already been updated to include these new buildings and they can be found at the bottom of whatever tab you are using.  They will be sorted once they make it to live server but for now we keep the new buildings unsorted at the bottom to make them easier to find and easier to edit if there are changes before they come to beta or live servers.

The Neo Clocktower and Neo Menagerie will now be available in the QI 2026 Middle Ages Epic Selection kit.

Changes to QI:
A lot of QI buildings just weren't being used so they've made some changes.  Let's start with cultural buildings.

If you play QI like I do and your QA bar is full every 5 hours then you'll appreciate the Q capacity boosts.  The cartographer appears to have replaced the pillory as top culture building.

Goods Buildings:

They want people to spend shards on expansions and not use goods to get expansions.  That's what this is all about.  So they increased the cost of coins, supplies and added a chrono cost to build a goods building.  In the old system we'd build honey and get an expansion with the first collection.  Then build gunpowder and get a second expansion with the second collection.  Then wait two or three collections to build rope and that stays until QI ends.

Now we will have to delay building until the third collection at minimum so we either use shards or have smaller settlements.

Changes to lunar coin rewards:
They've reduced the lunar coin rewards by 10-20%

Pirate Settlement will come to Beta Server Nov 12, 2025

Embargo until Nov 12, 2025

Need to have "trading charters" unlocked in Colonial Age tech tree.

Like the Polynesia Settlement there are no road requirements.

Town hall
Goods buildings - fisher, spice market, rum distillery, cannon builder
Residentials-hammock place, small shed, barrack

Diplomacy - small pier, long pier, wide pier, big pier

Coin Production - small cutter, red sailed brig, blackwater galleon

Currency - doubloons
Impediments -shipwrecks - can be removed with free rewards or pay diamonds (don't do that)

Blackmarket Dice Minigame (not sure why they are making black market one word?)

It's a dice game you play once you reach a quest in the questline of the settlement.
You have to pick one of three goods type to play for.  The amount of goods you win will depend on dice rolls.
It's pretty simple and not a lot to it.  You roll five dice and get up to three re-rolls if you don't like the outcome.

Let's play dice poker!
Look for pairs, straights, full house, or four/five of a kind.
So you lock-in the dice you want to keep then re-roll the rest.
The amount of goods you get depends on the combination you end up with.
You can buy extra rolls or boost the payout if you spend a little but don't bother.  This is just a way to boost your goods in a settlement.

I have to say I enjoyed the mini-game.  It took almost no time and it was fun.  If you don't like it then it can be skipped completely.
Rewards:
Master Spreadsheet has been updated with the Pirate Settlement reward buildings

Main Reward:
Pirate Treasure Cove
  • 9 levels
  • 3x5 does not require road
  • 175 % blue attack
  • 88 % blue attack for GE and GbG
  • 60 % blue attack QI
  • 150 % supply boost
  • 680 - 50,000 coin
  • 70 FP
  • 150 goods
  • 210 - 15,000 medals
  • 11,760 - 350,000 supplies
  • 30 guild goods
  • 2 random next age units

Ascended Pirate Treasure Cove

  • level 10 (decays after 30 days but that may change when it comes to beta)
  • 3x5 does not require road
  • 211 % blue attack
  • 106 % blue attack for GE and GbG
  • 90 % blue attack for QI
  • 180 % supply boost
  • 13,660 - 1,000,000 coin
  • 84 FP
  • 300 goods
  • 280 - 20,000 medals
  • 15,130 - 450,000 supplies
  • 45 guild goods
  • 4 random next age units

Time-Challenge Reward
Blackbeard's Hideout
  • lv 5
  • 2x2 does not require road
  • 25 % blue attack
  • 270 - 20,000 coins
  • 3,360 - 100,000 supplies
  • 10 FP
  • 25 goods of your age
  • 25 goods of previous age
  • 25 goods of next age

Emissaries:
Blackbeard - 100 previous age goods

Anne Bonny - 16 FP

The verdict...it's fine.  It's ok.  Newer players should definitely do all the settlements.  For established players well you still get an emissary slot and the main building is ok if you need a blue attack boost for QI.  But if you compare it to other buildings in the game it will be on the bottom end of advanced cities and in danger of removal.  That's not good.  It has less "value" per tile than a Neo Magnum Opus lv1.
Now think about how easy it is to get QI buildings and then consider all the work it takes to finish a settlement.  Then repeat that work how many times to get this fully levelled?  12?  15?  We asked and they didn't tell us.

I know they don't want to power-creep every new building in the game but if we're being honest.  I can't even recommend people with advanced cities play this new settlement because the reward buildings are already obsolete-ish.  Not exactly obsolete but on life-support or extinction list in advanced cities and it's new.  That shouldn't happen.  Yes it's better than the other settlement building so that's something.

Hopefully when the GB's get updated they'll do another settlement upgrade.  Not trying to ruin anyone's fun but on a per click/time on screen basis the most rewarding mechanics in FoE are
  • QI - by a mile
  • GbG - the updated GbG has made playing it better
  • GE - only 80 battles for a good reward building or two good reward buildings if you can defeat trial 55
  • Events - lots of quests, lots of time playing mechanic
  • Settlements - lots of time on screen for ok rewards

The thing we're most proud of is building that master spreadsheet and sharing it with the FoE community.  The ability to objectively determine a building's value on a per tile basis has really changed the way we view reward buildings in general.

FoE Beta workaround

If you play the game on Beta you know Inno Games absolutely shit the bed with the metadata change.  For PC players this game is unplayable without the FoE extension.

So we do have a fix for you.

Step 1: Go to official forums and discord and in every thread tell Inno not to ruin live servers with this garbage.  Be loud, be seen and don't let up.

Step 2: If you play FoE on Beta download a new browser.  Opera or Vivaldi work.

Step 3: Once the new browser is installed you have to install the beta version of foe helper here.

https://github.com/mainIine/foe-helfer-extension/archive/refs/heads/beta.zip

Step 4: extract/unzip the downloaded extension

Step 5: go to the "extensions" section of whatever browser you downloaded.  On that page probably near the top right side will be a slider called "developer mode".  Activate developer mode by sliding to the right or on position.

Step 6: On the top left or the top of the screen you will see "add unpacked extension".  Click that and go to where you unpacked from step 4.

Your beta version of FoE helper is now installed.

Now why do we suggest downloading a new browser to do this?

The regular foe extension still works on live server.  That extension gets regular updates so use that as long as possible.

The newly downloaded extension for beta will not get updates.  You will have to redo this process (download and install) if you want an updated version.

You cannot run two versions of FoE helper on the same browser so it makes sense to just play beta on a new browser and if Inno Games ever pulls their head out of their ass you can go back to your regular browser and all this is temporary.

If you only play on Beta and don't care at all about live servers then still download a new browser.  Uninstalling FoE helper extension, then downloading the beta version may work but there may be remnants of the old helper that will screw  up your experience.  Just download the new browser and save yourself a lot of headaches.

Inno Games is changeing it's database and that's bad news FoE Helper and a huge part of the player base. UPDATED

The way FoE used to work on beta server and still works on live servers (for now) is it used to load complete metadata when loading a city.

FoE Helper harvested that metadata and made this game a lot easier and more enjoyable to play.  The game without FoE helper for me is mostly unplayable.  Unfortunately for players on beta they are experiencing the slower (not faster) load time so this change has already failed but more importantly the game freezes all the time.

The game now loads information in an adhoc way when needed which has caused it to run slower.  But most importantly it has caused FoE helper to completely fail.

The folks at FoE helper are working furiously to try to get a work around but as of right now FoE won't even load on chrome (and chrome type) browsers.  So chrome, brave, opera etc.

If you use firefox it will load but not work.

If you use the official forums or the FoE discord please be vocal about your feelings on this.

Whoever had the dumb idea to change how FoE handles metadata they should no longer be allowed to have ideas.

Edit: Nov 12, 2025 FoE Helper is now working for both chrome and firefox

Halloween event live server Nov 4 to Nov 25th

There are a few changes from last year's event so we'll explain the changes as we go.

Quests are at bottom of this page.

Mechanic of spinning wheel and throwing knives.

There is an easy to understand tutorial when you first enter the event.  You can also replay this tutorial at any time.

This is what it looks like after the tutorial.
First thing to do is click the "skip animation" box.  You are competing with everyone in your neighborhood for prizes and the spin animation just slows things down.
You use Halloween tickets to spin the wheel.  Everyone in your hood sees the same prizes.  When they spin the wheel that's like you spinning the wheel.  So you can wait until people in your hood take the bad prizes before you use your knives or you can throw quickly to try to get it first.  You can also throw multiple knives at once to increase your chances.  You can throw 1, 3 or 5 knives at once.  You earn a reward for every knife thrown and grand prize progress.
When you throw multiple knives at once you earn BONUS grand prize progress.

When testing an event there are no other players, guilds, hoodies or stuff like that so we asked what would happen if two players hit spin at the same time with only one prize on the wheel.
The player that spun first will get that prize, the wheel would refresh and the player that spun second will hit one of the prizes there.
That becomes more important when you consider there may be multiple people throwing five knives at the same time.  So every knife will hit a prize and no progress will be lost.

Prize types:
  • Green - Common - each prize has up to 4 charges
  • Silver - rare - each prize has up to 2 charges
  • Gold - very rare - only one prize
  • Special tokens - bat tokens and cat charms

Bat tokens - main currency to use in the event shop.  Get them from winning them on wheel and completing daily tasks.

Cat Charms - bonus currency.  Can only appear on the wheel.  There is no other way to earn this currency.  Use the cat charms in event prize shop.  Earning cat charms on the wheel give you bonus grand prize progress.

Event does have a prize lane with silver and gold as well.
This event does NOT have Rival Quests.  Instead it has daily tasks.

There will be six daily tasks per day.
Tasks 1-3 earn normal bat tokens
Tasks 4-6 earn double bat tokens

Completing all six tasks per day will give you more event currency for the event shop but be prepared to purchase additional tickets to complete all six daily.

Rewards:
Master spreadsheet has been updated to include the buildings from this event (and the next event) and the spreadsheet now has tabs on the bottom so you can just view these buildings quickly to help you strategize.
Link to the master spreadsheet is here.

Avatars

Ok so about this event.  It's good and worth playing.  The previous two events featured main buildings that were already obsolete meaning advanced players would not place the main building in their cities.  That makes the gold league prize far less valuable as the fragments that make the main building have no value.

To top that off the event store was such garbage that the only thing sort of worth spending currency on was the fragments for allies.

This event has a good main event building.

A good gold league building because the fragments to make the main building have value.

You can get a terrific building in the event store and the lv2 of that building makes fragments for obsidian tower upgrades.

So what's the "best" strategy?  Well if you plan on doing the daily quests everyday then be prepared to buy a lot of extra tickets because it's kind of a trap.  The other issue is if you do the quests to do the quests then you'll be throwing knives regardless of what's on the wheel at the time.

So the quests look like this

and the wheel can look like this

As you can see the only good things on the wheel are already gone.  And to be clear the only things anyone should be going for are the special currencies.

So here's the recommended strategy.

Try to play during slow times.  The less people playing in your hood the better.

If there's a good prize on the wheel then don't try to game the system by letting a hoodie spin a few times then try to snipe the good prize.  Just go for it.

Be aware of the daily tasks.  If it tells you to throw 3 knives at once then cue that up.  If there's no good prize on the board just wait until a hoodie refreshes it.  When you see a good prize then throw those 3 knives and complete the task.

So don't waste currency refreshing the board.  Let your hood do that for you.

Complete daily tasks on your schedule and only when a good prize is up.  It helps to do this while collecting daily as about half the tasks are easily completed while collecting.

If you do not want to buy extra currency then understand you cannot complete all daily tasks everyday.  You will run out of currency.  The daily tasks that require you to throw 5 knives 2 times and stuff like that are designed to burn up your event currency.  If you let those tasks go then it's possible to complete all other daily tasks.

There is a luck element as well in regards to event currency gained in incidents.  If you're really lucky then it will be possible to complete all tasks.  Possible but not likely.

You get 2x the rewards for tasks 4-6 so focus on completing all as many times as you can.  Some of it is random chance so for example if you have to collect silver twice it may take you two throws or 20.  That's why it's impossible to say exactly how often you can go for 6/6 tasks so plan to do it every other day until you're about a week into the event and adjust up or down from there.  You should be able to complete two tasks everyday when collecting without throwing any knives.  Then once you complete one of the use event currency tasks you'll get another non-event currency task like complete 4hr productions 10 times.

So when the event starts just complete all the event tasks with your first city collection and get them out of the way.  You will then have a lot of tickets to use when you need them and there's no need to use them daily or every 8hrs or anything like that.

When it comes to the event store obviously the good prize is Rattlebones Raveyard so focus on that.

The lv1 building costs 24 cat charms.  The selection kit to make it a lv2 costs 40.

This event mainly gave blue QI fighters good building but red QI fighters can get the phantom abandoned asylum from the store with bat tokens.

You can also get ally fragments with bat tokens but when you see the cat tokens on the wheel do whatever you can to get them.

The most important thing to remember is to game the discount system in the shop.  Only spend that currency on discounted items unless the store is about to close for good and you have to spend or lose it.

Check the shop daily and use the refresh daily then have patience if the discount is not where you want it.
