State of the game

We're getting a lot of questions about game mechanics and people asking what is going on and what we can expect so this post is an update on the state of the game.  Keep in mind when talking about things happening in the future it can all change and change quickly.

Announcing and then pulling the GB changes has caused a huge ripple effect across the game for both the players and the developers.  Players don't know what to build or what to level up.  Developers can't stop stepping on rakes and completely screwed-up a much needed overhaul of the GB system.  So let's start there.

GB's:

Expect the GB revamp to come to Beta in March 2027 2026.  Thank you Paul yes it was a typo.

GB's are completely outdated with some exceptions.  The GB overhaul should have happened years ago but it was delayed for another 6 months.  This was a mistake.  The upgrades and the plan to have GB tiers is good.  It made GB's scalable by giving the ability to add more tiers in the future.  It made BP's relevant again by requiring a lot of BP's to make higher tiers.  It created a FP, coins, supply and goods sink by requiring those resources to level.  There was a lot of good with the GB upgrade that was planned but one huge flaw that caused a universal outrage by players.  "Condensed levels" was a cataclysmic failure.

To explain simply the value of a lv 180 arc would be applied to the tier one level 100.  That's great.  The player in your guild with a lv 90 Arc would be able to contribute to 2.0 threads.  That's a huge win for newer and smaller accounts.  The problem is the people who invested thousands and thousands of FP levelling their arcs to 180 just wasted all those FP.  The argument is they get the same boost at lv 100 which is true but all the time and FP they put into their GB is not recognized.  I don't know how a dev could just shrug at this and think people will just get over it.  But that said they still should have implemented the new GB system as-is instead of shelving it.  Right now people don't know what to build or level and that uncertainty is bad for the game.  A simple solution is here and I'll present it again.  Come up with a ratio of legacy levels vs. tier 2 new GB levels and award players with big GB's tier 2 levels.  So a player with a level 180 arc (legacy) will have a tier one level 100 and tier 2 level 16 using a 5:1 ratio.  Pick a ratio that works for you and introduce it now.  Sure people will still be pissed-off because people will always be pissed-off at any changes but at least that acknowledges the work people put into their GB and rewards them with SOMETHING.

Settlements:

The next settlement will be a pirate themed settlement and should be out this year.  In fact it should have already been out.

https://forgeaddicts.blogspot.com/2025/09/pirate-settlement-coming-to-beta-server.html

Similar to the last one so fortunately no roads.  Not much to say.  It's a settlement.

GE:

The next 25 levels of GE have been introduced on Beta and should be on live server quickly.  Here's what you need to know.  If you complete trial 5 or higher you will get all the fragments of Forgotten Temple.

If you complete trial 6 or higher you get the maximum diamonds (60).  Diamonds are no longer random so this is a net positive as you can always get 60 instead of mostly get 45 and if you're lucky get 90.

For established cities the forgotten temple is still very good and worth playing GE but all the other stuff in the shop is just not worth placing  in advanced cities.

For diamond worlds you should love the new GE.  You can use the rewards to target FoY (3x3), FoY shrink kits (2x3) or the super shrink kit (2x2).  So if you can do GE trial 6 every week you're good for diamond worlds.  The higher the trial level the better the fragments to buy shrink kits but all you need is trial 6.

For main worlds again all you need is trial 6 until they introduce something good.  And yes we're well aware of the platinum upgrades for Terrace Farm and Serpent items.

So if we only NEED trail 6 the implications in terms of what is or isn't valuable in the game are huge.  GE fight boosts are just not worth as much as regular boosts or GbG boosts.  We're working on a way to reflect that in our master spreadsheet building valuation.  If you wish to give your opinion on how to value that boost you are free to chime in.  The top right of every page of this site has a way for you to send us messages.

It does require an email address.  Feel free to use a temp email or something you use for spam.  We could just allow comments but were advised against it for a few reasons and we believe that advice was sound.  We started this site because Crash Cart took her site down.  She did allow comments and it quickly because cumbersome to respond to all the questions and people seeking help which is why she took her site down.  We saw the value in a site like this and people seem to use it as a resource.  It seems players don't want to give up their anonymity to use discord or watch youtube videos to get information.  A static site like this isn't for everybody but we're getting 1.5 - 2k visitors a day so it's good for some people.  As always nothing is paywalled, you don't need to have a registered account to view this site and we refuse to allow ads.  But unfortunately to message us you do need to use an email address as we don't want to deal with spam, bots and trolls.

GbG:

The new GbG has been out for a while and it was exactly as advertised.  Players have to pick between personal profit of a higher trial level or help their guild by picking a lower trial level and doing more hits.  Inno has not allowed us to see which trial level people have picked and that is a wise decision as it would lead to bullying.

The only issue with the new GbG is how they decided to implement the upgrade/selection kits of GbG buildings.  As you know for quite some time now the GbG tower type buildings make an upgrade if they're lv1 so players will eventually have a lv 2.  The shop allows players to purchase fragments to make a selection kit for the same building.  The problem is these are two separate items.  So if you purchase the selection kit to make a lv1 a lv2 then all your upgrade fragments are worthless.  It's frustrating when game developers don't put players first when deciding stuff like this.

Guild Conquest:

Has been delayed until maybe 2027.  Surely it will look a lot different by then but here are a couple of posts about it.

QI:

The Middle Ages is out and we're almost finished the first season.  The version we have on live server was rebalanced from what we had on Beta and the changes made it better.

So let's revisit the Iron Age QI first.  In order to build a strong settlement you need to allocate all your coin/supply to building that settlement.  If you build it correctly that settlement will be complete by about map 8.  That means people that were donating in earlier maps didn't have a strong settlement as they were "donating their settlements".  That means you need to fight the early maps to build a strong settlement.  Building decorations and the arches to offset the euphoria costs was impractical in early maps.  So that's a long-winded way of saying players NEED QI boosts in their main city in order to be successful fighting maps 1-8.  By map 8 the settlement should be strong enough to build decorations and arches.  The value and scarcity of QI fight boosts made them far more valuable than say GbG or GE boosts.  The gold league prize in events gave people QI boosts so people who routinely finish in the gold league in events had a tremendous advantage in QI.

With the new QI Middle Ages everything has gotten a lot easier.  You don't NEED any boosts at all in your city to be successful in the new QI.  Now you should at a minimum have a Forgotten Temple but even if you don't you can beat the first map by simple brute force and taking more troop losses until your first harvest.  At that time you get get some decorations and just continue to build.  The decorations are cheap and the euphoria cost offset is cheap as well.  The rewards are better and the mechanic is much, much easier to play.  That makes QI more accessible to players that are not routinely in the gold leagues for events.  So all the news is good, the sun's always out, you found extra money in your pocket...but wait.  QI is so easy now that we have to reevaluate all things QI.

QI fight boosts in city are no longer as valuable as they were.

QI coin/supply boosts are not as valuable.

QI troop are not as valuable.

All those ascended items in your inventory...you guessed it.  No longer as valuable.

So that means our master spreadsheet is going to change.  The fight boosts for GE and QI just are not as worth as much as they were just a couple of weeks ago.  If you want to send us feedback on how you would formulate the value column feel free to send that to us.  We do read all the messages.

Events:

At this time Fellowship event is on live server.  Halloween event is on Beta and the Winter Event is being tested.  We'll probably put the winter event information up today as it's just been sitting in the inbox for a while.

For new players I don't want to take away you joy of playing events.  They're all good.  You'll get strong fast.  Go kick-ass and have fun with them.

Ok for people with more advanced cities we really need to look at events a bit differently.  In terms of number of clicks/time on screen vs. rewards nothing in this game compares to QI.  Nothing.

So the #1 objective for established players should be avoid burn-out.  The Fellowship/St Patrick's day event is notorious for causing player burn-out.  So before an event begins you should look at the rewards.  Will you put the main building in your city?  If yes it's awesome then play the event.  Try to get into gold league to make more of those main buildings.  Just understand that the awesome building will probably be obsolete in a few months.

If the building is ok and will probably put in city then don't go for gold league.  Don't spend diamonds.  Play casually and if you get it fine.  If not also fine.

If the building is borderline then don't bother.  Does the event have an open all boxes type of mechanic that gives you a special building?  Do that instead.

The Fellowship event is the perfect example.  Main building is not great.  There's no real incentive to get the gold league prize that makes more of them.  The event requires a lot of babysitting/clicks/time on screen.  Meanwhile the lv2 open all boxes building is better.  You can get three of those lv2 buildings by doing minimal work and spending zero diamonds while your guildmates will be setting alarms trying to complete 28+ banquets.  Don't get burnt-out.

Fellowship Event live server version with balancing changes

The St. Patrick's day event mechanic is back.

This event should be familiar to all FoE players unless they are very new so we won't spend a lot of time on the mechanics.

There are some changes and the first change is the task window.

The task and the completion reward is now displayed.

The names have changed so instead of festival, shipyard, hats, flowers, cake, drinks and fireworks we have...

  • Banquet Hall
  • carriage
  • spices emporium
  • juice emporium
  • farm
  • bakehouse
  • gourmet butchery

You open these "shops" and hire overseers using "gemstones" which is the event currency.

The goal is to avoid creating a bottleneck so be careful when piking what level of overseer you use.

Boosters:

  • king's chronometer - fast forward production by two hours
  • royal seal of advancement - upgrade overseers without spending gemstones
  • monarch's edict of provisions - discount of number of feast provisions required to progress to the next banquet.  (Can only use one per banquet)

When you complete tasks you get an instant reward and progress toward the grand prize.  25 tasks completion grants one prize on the grand prize lane.

You do not have to complete all tasks and you should not complete all tasks if you wish to play efficiently.  The goal is to complete enough to advance the grand prize lane while boosting the town so it generates enough feast provisions to move to the next town (next banquet).

The first town (banquet) is a tutorial and only needs 1 million feast provisions to move to the next banquet.  All other banquets require 8.4 quadrillion.

When you select the option to move to the next banquet you will see six reward chests.

The first chest is free to open and you'll need to spend gemstones to open more.  If you select open all you will get a discount.

If you do open all chests you will get a bonus prize.

The event shop is back.

The currency is "sacred seals"

For the people not familiar with the mechanics it's pretty simple to play but complicated to explain.
There are three towns/banquets/variants.  They cycle so once you complete town 1 and go to the next one it's town 2.  Once that's completed you go to town 3.  Once that's completed you go back to town 1.

The very first town you play is different as it's a tutorial.  From then on it's very formulaic.

What you dear reader have to decide is which strategy you will choose and then stick with it.

1) Push the prize line and try to get into gold league/spend diamonds
2) Don't spend diamonds but go for prize line/main event building
3) Lazy don't give a crap about the prize line but want the prize you get when you open all boxes between towns.

Regardless of which strategy you pick how you do the first tutorial town will be the same.  And even if you don't care about the main event prize because it's not very good you might want to try to get to 450 of the prize line.

The next platinum Fiore upgrade is at 800
*Note: Expect the prize line to change from Beta to live server

Tutorial Town:
Complete 15 tasks before moving to variant two.
It only takes about 20 minutes to go from 11 to 15 tasks so stacking those extra quest completions will help you get farther down the prize line.

Once you build a bakehouse the next quest is hire a lv2 baker which we won't do and just move past the tutorial and into town/banquet/variant two.

Now let's deal with the above strategies for regular (non-tutorial) towns.

Let's start with strategy 3 the lazy super-easy method that is diamond city friendly.
Only hire lv1 overseer for a total cost of 190 currency.

Lazy Town guide for all towns unless stated otherwise

***Town 3 take juice to 50

Using this method you will complete 15 tasks on town one, 8 tasks on town two and 14 tasks on town 3
So that's 37 tasks for three towns including the tutorial and the same moving forward.  That means you will probably top-out at 185 on the prize line but will still get the silver fiore upgrade.  You will not have enough currency to buy-all boxes after every town is completed.  This is the lazy method after-all.  You don't have to complete a town every two days.  Just make sure you use all your currency on boxes.

This is town 2 on the lazy strategy

You'll notice that there are two buildings yet to be built and I'm out of tasks.  You do not have to babysit these lazy towns.

You should however complete the event quests.  It should only take an hour or so to complete all the rush quests then just do the daily quests the lazy way!

The milestone rewards are worth doing the quests.

Strategy two advancing the prize line but not using diamonds to buy additional event currency.

When you move to the next town this screen appears.

For the tutorial town it only costs 1M provisions.  You can also see here there's a box to the left to use a booster to reduce the price.

You get one free chest and can spend currency to open more.  Don't open individual boxes until the event is about to end and you need to spend currency before it goes away.  Either just use the free box and move to the next town or open-all for a discount.

By opening all you get the special prize

The seals are used in the event shop as special event currency.  Then there are also trash prizes along with the seals.  That's why we advocate to either only open the free box or open all.
Once you take your free box it looks like this

So it takes 1400 gems (event currency) to open all boxes.

Now you can buy more boxes or move to the next town.  Do not buy the higher price boxes.  The skill aspect of this event is balancing your need to buy overseers and the ability to buy boxes.  If going for gold or trying to push the prize line then you may only buy boxes on the last day just to use up currency.  If playing the lazy method you time town completions to match your ability to buy all boxes.

Strategy 1 push prize line and go for gold league.
This is a big spender event and frankly the prizes are not worth the investment.  However if you insist on spending diamonds you can set-up the following overseers:

QI Middle Ages getting a cost rebalance

If you play the beta server you will find QI has changed.  The building costs from previous QI seasons have been altered and we think you'll like the changes.

We'll post some details after there's an official announcement.
