Site updates

We're going to be updating the master spreadsheet "value" and would like your feedback.

While value is subjective we are still trying to objectively apply values to all boosts so players can rate a building by what it provides on a per square return.

We look at buildings as belonging to one of three categories.

1) Quality of life

2) Specific need

3) return per square

Quality of life

These are buildings that may have a poor return on the value chart but are needed to facilitate gameplay in some way.  For example the nutcracker is a poorly performing 2x2 building but it provides fragments for a mass self-aid kit.  You need 30 fragments to get one mass self-aid kit per day.  I like to get a little more than 30 to pair with "finish all special production".  But once you have what you feel is enough then the value of this building plummets.

The same principle applies to buildings that give one-up kits, finish all supply, store item etc.

The things these building produce are essential but once you have enough enough of what they produce from other sources the building completely loses it's value.

Specific need

If you need a boost in one specific area like QI or GE.  Once you can comfortably auto-battle GE trial 55 then any additional GE boosts have no value.  Once you can defeat the bosses on Map 12 in QI without building decorations then QI fight boost have no value.  (Remember that trials are coming for QI and increased trial levels will hit GE at some point.  Not this year.)

So when a new event starts and you're evaluating the main building for example and it gives a boost to GE that you don't need you personally will value that building much differently than a player would who still can't beat GE trial 6.

If you're a red fighter in QI and a building gives a blue QI boost then it has no value to you.  You get the idea.

Return per square

This is how we assign a "value" to every building in the game.  We acknowledge the above two categories but we're trying to objectively value buildings per square including roads using their entire output even if some of those outputs have no value for you specifically.

We're considering changing the value of fight boosts as follows.

Base fight boosts 100%

GE and GbG specific fight boosts 50%

QI fight boosts 100%

We're also kicking around the idea of just separating QI completely into red and blue pages.

We add a new tab with each event so it's getting pretty cluttered and it's more work that we'd rather not do unless there's a need.  People can download the master spreadsheet and alter the value tab to whatever they like.  For example if they don't value blue QI fight boosts and any GE fight boost they can alter the formula and sort the table to reflect their specific value.

We previously did not track all output of every building for things like BP, coin, supplies, medals, QA, Qstorage etc. etc but now we do.  So all new buildings will have their full output tracked.

Currently none of the above is factored into a building's value.  So if a building gives QI troops or % supply boost it's not reflected in that building's value.

We now have the same problem we did when we started tracking population and happiness.  How do you factor in BP production for example to a building's value?

We're open to community suggestions on this.  Right now we're tracking it but that's it.

Lastly we were informed by google that do to the volume of visitors to this site and the bandwidth used we may no longer be able to opt-out of google ads.  We don't know what that would look like or how intrusive it will be but we're trying to ensure that doesn't happen.  Or if it happens they will be small and out of the way.

If ads do appear do not feel obligated to click on any of them.  We're looking at setting up a separate hosting site to avoid ads completely.  Blogspot is free and easy to use.  Managing a domain and hosting a website is more complicated and costly but we can make it look pretty.  Pretty was never the goal.  We just want to get players the information they need to improve their game or make events easier so we'll probably just deal with the ads and try to make them small and out of the way.

Your feedback on this issue is also welcome.

Comments

  1. Ads are on every page of the internet. Nobody will care. I've been using this site for over a year and you never once asked to subscribe, like, go to my patreon or anything. Why should you guys and gals have to pay for hosting? Just accept the reality that nothing is really free and carry on the good work.

  2. If people want a custom value table they can customize it. Just do what you do because there's nothing like that master spreadsheet. Thanks for all the work. I also think you should have a Patrion link. You make events so easy for me.
