All the GB's in their final form.

Nerfed but still good.

Build to lv 201

A must have for diamond worlds but it's expensive to level for that small blue attack GbG multiplier.

I don't see a reason to level this beyond 201

CF was once one of the best GB's in the game.  For anyone in the most current age this is a delete GB.

Massive nerf to what used to be the best GB in the game and it didn't have to be this way.  They could have just added additional contribution boosts but instead they took away our existing boosts.  On live servers right now if you take spots on a level 101 GB and you have a level 180 Arc you can take them at 2.0.  After this "upgrade" you will need a level 500 arc and can only contribute at 1.4
This is bad.  This will cause chaos on the levelling threads.
They also nerfed the contribution bonus for copper tier.  lv 180 Arc no longer gives 2.0 I think you have to get it to level 194 but get to lv 201 just to be safe.

The decreased need for special goods makes this GB obsolete.

Inno changed this from blue attack and defense QI to red attack QI.  This one GB change is evidence that the devs do not play this game.  They didn't just drop the defense and keep the blue attack they made it no longer functional.  People don't fight red and blue in QI.  It's a segregated attack so the people building this for blue QI boosts are screwed.  No player would make this change.

This is now back to a completely useless GB.  Inno has done a bait and switch on this one and it's unforgiveable.  Players have rushed to build this in anticipation of the change and Inno just did a rug-pull.

This is interesting but I can't really see anyone building this to level 500.  They also nerfed the number of charges and chance to get double rewards.

If they gave a massive goods boost but let you chose the era then this would have been interesting.  So GB's requiring goods of that era to open levels I could have seen something like this (or other GB's that give goods) being used to alleviate that need.  But they didn't so this is a never build GB.

For Traz the 15% is the multiplier and the 750% is the base boosts.  This is the clear winner.  To be honest the Colosseum should have gotten this upgrade instead of Traz.

Getting AO to level 201 is a for sure but going beyond that?  Players in the most recent age will have no use for that boost.
So the difference between a level 401 Colosseum and a level 500 is 10k medals?  Ok will get right on that.  Inno give me a reason to build this beautiful GB.  This prestige upgrade is fail.

So the difference between a level 201 and level 500 deal castle is 4% multiplier for blue QI attack.  300 level for 4%.  Seriously who's idiot cousin came up with this?

So the difference between lv 201 and lv 500 is 2% multiplier to blue attack GbG, an increase of 5% to the chance of getting a spoils of war and 5 extra charges.  Again, 300 levels for that?

Science ally boost is interesting but this is a never build and tear-down if you have one GB

Waste of space

If you build a lv 500 Arc and lv 500 ShS you can get 1.9 contributions again.  Yah!  The fight boost multiplier is capped at 5% at level 201 so answer honestly.  Will you add 300 more levels for that contribution boost?

If you have a lv 201 you have no reason to level it further.  If you don't have a TA then it's not worth building.

Garbage GB.  My QI defense boost is 2,200 which is overkill already.  This would add 110 at level 500.  You're better-off adding a couple of decorations to your settlement if you need the boost.

Buildings not getting a gold level:

Cosmic Catalyst no longer needs special goods to level.  A rare positive change.

Flying Island is so pretty and a complete waste of space.

Not worth building

I would like this more if I could chose what age those goods were but it's a little boost.

A little boost from what live server has now.

A boost from what's on live server now.

Just so everyone knows this used to produce 200 troops at level 100.  They did increase the fight boost though.

  1. A few thoughts. First the CF, I have mine at level 201 currently and I always complete all of the heroic endeavors. So, that 53% boost on the rewards = 1749 more scrolls to level my allies each week. That seems like a nice benefit to me. Kraken, I'm ticked at what Inno has done but not sure I'll delete my Kraken. The increase in number of strikes may make this fairly decent for a player that fights a lot like myself. Couple quick questions: Would the AO be beneficial for a HAU fighter with the new benefit? Also, would the Seed Vault be of value to an active player's main world? GbG Blue multiplier would age well plus the extra helping hands benefit. Cheers.

    1. You make a solid point on the CF. I'm going to have to look at that again when I'm less bitter and don't have a blind rage for Inno.

I do a lot of fights also like 2k/day GbG and to me Kraken is useless. The help on the limited number of charges would mean players that cannot fight full attrition would have to not collect it until they've hit their max, collect it and get 20ish more fights in. The cost to level it does not justify that tiny bonus. Players are better-off investing those same FP into buildings that multiply their attack boosts to get that benefit 2k/day instead of 20.
The crit hit was not registering when I used my high level AO (240 ish level). I tested 100 manual fights and it just never triggered the animation when watching it. I can't say for certain I never got the bonus somehow on the backend but it should have one-shot and it didn't. This was using SAT and SASH troops against SAD troops. When switching back to SAD vs. SAD troops it triggered a few time every fight. So in theory yes HAU fighters would benefit and maybe it's just bugged right now.
The Seed Vault for main worlds is hard to justify because of the cost and the high levels to get it to where it's good. If we were all given lv 500 SV's and just had to find space to place it I would definitely do that. But if we have to spend the goods and FP to get it there I think there are better options.

    2. Wow 2k fights a day seems to take up a lot of time.. I do about 400 only lol

    3. 400 a day is great. I wasn't trying to compare just giving a reference. I'm in a very competitive guild and 2k/day doesn't put me in the top 10 so I don't think much of it. It's just hold down the "r" key and left click game on second monitor while doing something else on the first monitor.

    4. So, AO-critical hit effect was mute on SASH v SAD? It would be nice to have real picture here? I am in SASH, 8-10K fights/day....troops will be a problem down the road, SAD troops would help!

I hope we get feedback from more beta testers but I did another 100 fights using SASH troops against SAD and not one crit animation. Again, not saying it isn't working behind the scene or maybe the animation isn't working but it doesn't appear to be working. I'm sure it will do what the tool tip says it does by the time it comes to live server.

  2. Thank you very much for posting this! It answered a lot of my questions... but not all of them.

How do the leveling costs in Beta compare to before? You had recommended we NOT work on SAT, SASH and SAD GBs until post-release, because their leveling costs weren't going to change much, whereas the leveling costs for all the rest were increasing dramatically. Is that still true? It looks like the leveling costs (to 500) are actually lower than before, though I'm not sure where the cross-over point is. Are levels below 200 still cheaper now than they will be? Maybe I'd be better off working on my SAT buildings (currently at L100) to capture the 2.0 bonus rather than trying to push a L180 Arc?

    1. The levelling costs have changed quite a bit since the prestige update on beta. Then there was the change last week and if I'm not mistaken they've changed again with this last announcement. I'd be curious to know what to level now on live server to get the most bang for my buck. Provided inno doesn't change it yet again.

    2. SAT, SASH and SAD can get 1.99 contributions from lv 180 Arcs or 2.0 from I think lv 194 Arcs? Double check me on that but at lv 200 you can still do 2.0 contributions for non-gold tier buildings. So buildings that didn't get gold tier upgrade at any level and buildings lv 100 and lower that did get the "upgrade".
There are four people sharing this account and it's not normally me posting comments but the advice to not level SAT, SASH and SAD GB's on live server right now is solid. The SHS is more expensive to level after the upgrade so if you're going to level any GB in those ages do the SHS on live server.
I would advise getting Arc to 200 and go from there.

    3. I am really struggling to decide what if any GB to work on. I thought the whole idea was to make GBs relevant again, well to me they haven't Why cap Deal Castle at 2000 blue stats when it is 7x7 let it run through to 4K at lvl401 and then it would be worth the push, but at 2K you may as well just put 2 more bazaars down and get all the extra stuff. I know the advice is to not work on SAT and SASH GBs but they are the only ones that seem worth the effort.

    4. Unfortunately we're still getting hints about the Beta not being the final form so it's really hard to advise. What I would do is level Arc to over 200 and probably keep going. FE goods will get a lot harder to get when people realize they can't level GB's and get the contribution return they're used to.
People not in SAD will be at a disadvantage as SAD era gives contribution bonus to gold tier buildings so they'll have to compensate with higher level Arcs.

    5. Very much appreciate your input and effort. My Arc is now 210 and I keep putting into it. I want to take my BG to 201 and I think I will carry on with my CoA as the footprint is relatively small. I was working on my CdM but I just don't think the QI boost is worth it. And Traz is so big that you can fill the space with other special bldgs to get the same or better rewards. They really have missed a trick with this upgrade. I was planning on sitting in SAT for some time bt wondering if it might be better to push through to SAD

  3. Thank you for this, it's extremely helpful! I have another question you didn't address...

Assuming I don't rage quit, how should I approach the period prior to the update on the live servers? You had previously told us to avoid leveling SAT, SASH or SAD buildings because the costs wouldn't be changing much, whereas the costs for the other buildings was increasing dramatically. But now I see the total FP cost for taking GBs to L500 is going down quite a bit.

Assuming I'm going to lose 2.0 contributions on my GBs, is it better to work on a L100 Hydra than a L160 SV, simply because I can capture more 2.0 contributions thanks to the lower leveling costs? Or is the cost increase on buildings like the SV still pretty material in the L150-200 range, in which case I should give it priority?

    1. Keep in mind that they've changed contributions twice in the last 8 days so this is very fluid and I found out this morning that they will evaluate how players are levelling on beta before bringing this to live server so it's not just a tech evaluation it's a player behavior evaluation. But right now here's the deal.
You will still get 2.0 levelling on GB's that don't have a gold tier so waiting to level SAT, SASH or SAD GB's is still solid advice.
When the new contribution method was introduced on Beta a day ago it was cheaper to level buildings over lv 300 than it was a week prior to that. I'm sure someone will come out with cost of levelling graphs but it won't be us. We're debating if we even want to continue with FoE at all.
Best advice for live server players right now is pick the GB that is getting a gold tier AND is expensive to level and start levelling it if you like the gold tier bonuses.
Second viable strategy is pick the GB that will require goods that are hard to get traditionally like EMA (CoA) or PE (Alcatraz) and level that. The decision to roll-back opened but not built levels was a surprise. Yet another bad move in a bad update.

If anything other players should get mad at those who are trying to gain an unfair advantage by using unconfirmed info. As a red Qi player I'll be happy if this goes live.

Inno like every other gaming company has various levels of game development. Inno for about 12 years has used the beta server as a last stage test mostly to make sure things work and don't corrupt the live servers. They have also used the international server on live to some extent for that.

While you may see minor tweaks on Beta say during an event on things like what's in a selection kit or an adjustment on an event building what you don't see is massive changes like we have seen regarding the GB "upgrades".

I am also a red QI fighter and will also benefit from the CdM changes. That doesn't mean blue QI fighters who built-up the CDM were not screwed. They were.
Live server players who get informed on changes and act on the information coming from Beta are not getting an "unfair advantage". They are simply acting on the information provided.

When the GB changes came to beta the costs went through the roof. To the point where GB's like the AO could no longer be levelled in a player's lifetime so whatever level they were when the "upgrade" hit that's where they were a week ago.

People that play beta or read sites like this were informed of the changes and acted accordingly by changing what they build and how they level. That is a reasonable response.

A reasonable response from Inno if changes had to be made regarding the boosts would be to adjust 12% multiplier to 10% or something like that. Notice even the CoA changes that cut their boosts in half doesn't spark much outrage because the boost type didn't change. With CdM and Kraken the changes they made didn't have to be made. It was a choice to screw-over both beta and live server players who built those GB thinking the boost types were locked-in for 7 months. That's game design malpractice.

You can be happy that the changes happened to work to your favor but let's not pretend Inno by making these changes didn't screw a significant number of their player base by making those changes.

The people that spent millions of FP building up the Kraken and CdM didn't ask a magic 8 ball what the boosts were going to be after the "upgrade" and start mass levelling in anticipation. They (we) had 7 months of those boosts in beta that informed that decision.

I care about this game I've played for over 12 years now. Cared enough that with three other people we created this site to help other players navigate events and game changes. Cared enough to want to foster a supportive environment to give players actionable information on how to improve their game.

FoE isn't growing. They're not bringing-in enough new players (not talking accounts but people that play long enough to get past Colonial Age) to replace the older players that quit. The player base is shrinking and at least part of that reason for the last three years is because of the GB situation. Not just the changes but the uncertainty of what the changes will be in their final form. So while you personally may benefit from the change to CdM did you benefit from the nerf to Arc and BG just to give a couple of examples. Was anyone asking for GB's to be nerfed instead of upgraded?

If all the changes worked to your advantage then I'm genuinely happy for you. What I don't get is your lack of empathy for others that were screwed or for decisions that will hurt the game long-term.

    5. I've clearly said something unpopular to illicit the thorough and violent response above, but unless there's a language barrier I'm missing, I think we're miscommunicating.
      a throat punch? for what?
what attitude could be implied from so few words?
'a lack of empathy' - first, what words did I use to make anyone think I'm disregarding certain players on the live server.
Again, what empathy should I have for a change that hasn't happened. What could you be genuinely happy for me about when the thing that's going to happen(red qi boosts) instead of the thing that didn't happen (blue qi boosts) hasn't happened yet? Some unconfirmed changes didn't happen on the beta testing server. Instead other changes(some I think are OK to good) happened instead. Based on player feedback. Which I think we all agree is good.
Maybe I was wrong to call the advantage of a set of players spending their banked fps they could be using elsewhere to level some GBs like their seed vault or whatever, instead using it on a GB ahead of a change that would rise the cost of doing so and privilege them at a lower cost than the other players in their server who don't follow discord or have sources in the dev team(like the contributors of this blog talk about) 'unfair'. I think it's unfair, but maybe I'm wrong. I'm not sure I can be convinced otherwise, especially when you guys often have embargos to not talk about things ahead of time.
This GB update has been talked about and changed so constantly that anyone who overcommitted this time around MUST know something. Something others didn't. Or maybe they took everything at face value. Except for 'updates are subject to change'
I don't even know why I'm writing this. I've been player for over a year. I don't have the time investment others here seem to. I agree some of these changes are probably not great but I see some gems here and I'm looking forward to some new challenges and possibly a new meta. From what I read the Arc wasn't popular and I still see many players just sticking to swap threads.
I guess I'm atypical and other members of this forum would happily commit violence against me for not having a 12+ year aged opinion on what seems to be a game you have equal parts contempt and codependency with.
I know I sound smarmy with the last paragraph, but it's really easy to do that right now

    6. the arc wasn't too popular at first*. I realised my mistake there. Obviously it's well received now but I've been invited to 200-3000 fps swap threads to make me know some people just don't like doing the math. some, not most, maybe 5-10% of players I've seen

  5. after a day in beta, can someone explain how the arc work exactly? Does the copper tier bonus work only on GB under level 100 or is the gold tier bonus an add on on the normal 100% arc?

    1. If you have a level 200 Arc and contribute to a copper GB you will get 2.0 return.
If you contribute to a gold tier GB (lv 101 and higher) you will get 1.19 return.
I have not tested return on GB that do not have gold tier but are level 101 or higher but I presume you still get the 2.0
To be honest I find it hard to log into my worlds because I'm disgusted by this game right now.

    3. Buildings that did not get gold tier "upgrade" but are over level 100 will get 2.0 contribution from lv 200 arc or 1.99 contribution from lv 180 Arc.

The 1.19 contribution is only for GB that have a gold tier AND are lv 101 or higher.

      Delete
    4. Will Gold Tier eligible GBs that reach L101 automatically be converted or will they require gold blueprints to convert? If blueprints are required, then is it feasible to delay upgrading to Gold until L201 and take advantage of 2.0 leveling and the copper costs from L101-L200?

    5. Once your GB reaches gold level then it's gold. To unlock further levels then you will need gold BP, copper BP, goods of that age then a mix of coin/supply/medals to just unlock a level.

The rug pulls are bad enough (fortunately I am small enough player so I was only rushing things to 101 which is relatively cheap). I cannot understand why you would nerf the arc like that. I got mine to 180. It frustrates me I don't get 2.0 on copper with that. Also, why get rid of the contribution to gold gbs? And they don't seem to care all that much for the people that do.

Interesting i think, i'm still in SASH and AO is allready lvl 215.

    Replies
    1. It's a pretty big ask for HAU players to level an AO to 500 to get a 40% chance of crit hit. It's been years since I've had a HAU city. Long enough were we didn't have the hospital in the town hall so if we lost a Hover Tank we'd have to contact support to get it back or waste months of work getting HAU. Now with how fast the fights go in GbG it just doesn't seem practical to heal or revive if one dies. It's also pretty easy to be an infinite fighter with same age troops where it just doesn't seem be be as big an advantage as it used to be. The cost to get AO to lv 500 can probably be easier to justify on something else. I'd recommend SHS over AO for HAU players. It makes sense to put both crit chances on the same GB but it's also the worst way to do it because HAU players won't use the base crit chance so it only gets good after level 200. So for you it may be worth it as it's already there. Most HAU players don't have AO.
I think players using next age units will be easier to justify the cost. So someone camping in TE and getting FE troops can fight with TE using the crit bonus of AO until they hit attrition cap then switch to hover tank and get the second tier crit chance against TE troops.
You can do that as well using SAD troops against SASH unless you run into cpu using a lot of artillery.
You may be better-off aging up to SAD then using SASH troops with that second tier crit chance.

    2. The CritHit from level 101 and up.
Is it for second wave of is it for higher aged units ?

      Delete
    3. The crit hit for AO caps at 50% at level 200 for same age troops. It doesn't matter first or second wave.
At level 101 you get a 5% chance for critical hit when using different age troops. That increases up to 40% at level 500.

It's the kraken and whatever GB gave missiles launch that is is adding second wave chance to trigger effects.

    1. I know for fact that they aren't tanking the game on purpose because it's still profitable. But the decisions made sure make that theory plausible. It's easier to believe it's malicious instead of incompetence but I believe incompetence is what's happening. The people making decisions just have no relationship to the game. They don't play it. They don't understand the nuance. They genuinely do not understand why anyone would have a problem with switching blue attack and defense QI boosts for red QI and only one not both of the boosts. They see numbers and don't understand that people min/max their city to support how they play. They just see number go up so it's good. It's honestly frustrating.

    1. From what I understand they will remove additional cost like medals and goods from buildings until they are in gold tier (lv 101 and higher). It keeps changing and I'm so, so tired of it to be honest.

    2. When will they release it to the live servers? Are there any estimates?

  19. Thanks for the numbers update.

Your ....interpretation.... regarding quite a few of the GB's leaves a lot to be desired though.. Quite...OldSkool Rubberstamp.
There's other approaches, especially in the current Meta, which allow for/require different valuations of the GB's. Doubly so if you have to work from the ground up...

Not....Wrong, per sé. But.... Limited to a specific subset of players.

Mind.. Not a shake for me..
The more you Gods of Truth Incarnate do the same old routine, the more I can get the "How the hell did he do that?!!" by following the ..roads less travelled...

    1. well said. it takes me a while to realize the people who contribute here are decades long players with a very specific opinion in their chambers. I don't think they are the average player or the new players inno is trying to court to keep the game going. being called a 'company man' because you're ok with some of the changes is rich. I guess if they liked it instead of me I'd be within my rights to do the same.
hopefully these changes don't break the meta too much and solve excessive powercreep. GBs should only have unique boosts so you can justify keeping them because of playstyle, instead of replacing with event buildings that just keep getting stronger and stronger

    2. True. Our bias is based on value per tile. A very common phrase, "efficiency is the enemy of fun" is true and we're guilty of it. Our bias favors hard-core players trying to get an edge. Guilty as charged. We are at times reminded that there are other play styles and that's fair.
When this game first started almost 14 years ago people could chose to fight or negotiate. So people would set-up their cities with goods buildings and ignore fight boosts to support that play style. That type of play style still exists but it's a tiny sliver of the player base.
There are players that only build tiny towns.
Players that base their city on aesthetics like the canal towns or cherry set towns.
There are people who build GB's for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with boosts. If you search hard you will find cities that have all GB's at high level.
Honestly there are former hard-core players in every guild that just hang-out in casual guilds to mentor new players and just play the social game. These are the Yoda type players that give great advice and goods to people in need. Meanwhile they barely advance their own cities.
There are no wrong ways to play this game and nobody is wrong for playing the way they do.
That doesn't mean hard-core players aren't going to look at a Flying Island sideways. We want all the GB's to be great. We want them all to be so good that they're all worth building for all players.
GB's are meant to act as game economy sinks. The return should be worth the investment.
The things we as hard-core players advocate for would also help casuals and all play-types in-between. Making fringe GB's like VP really good and popular would provide more opportunity for non-hard-core players to get BP's.
Our perspective is what it is and I hope it's transparent but I would also ask you or others to feel free to disagree and advocate for things that support your playstyle. Fair?

    3. I wonder if the powercreep is because inno listens to players like you guys too much. they get some blame for not planning or having strategy for sure. if hardcore players think every reward that isn't 10x the previous one stinks, they make more events and buffer rewards to placate them and then cause other problems. Making GBs better than EBs better would still privilege hardcores that can generate 100k fps a day which would kill any new players because they couldn't compete and stop playing. maybe that's why they moved the bottlenecks to create a new meta.

  20. I know you marked RAH as waste of space (which it kinda is, it's huge) but the goods from the lower ages seems "good enough" to build it. I saw on discord some summary of costs and for example CDM from 150 to 200 will cost roughly 800k goods of that era. Nobody will be able to produce that much let alone trade it because as of now the powerscreep of event buildings allow you to just storm through the lower ages in couple of days so nobody will sit in that age and produce milions of goods for other players. I am in SASH and I have couple of buildings I would like to have on lvl 200 but the goods requirement will be a stopping point for me.. also the gold blueprints -_- so I am really thinking about building the RAH and trying to level it up as much as possible before the update goes to live for the goods alone. Any thoughts on that? Because I don't really see a way of getting milions of goods from lower ages. I know RAH is not providing much but it is a constant daily supply.

    1. You are correct to identify the bottleneck of levelling GB's as goods of that age and not FP. So anything that makes goods of earlier ages may become more valuable depending on final changes. And we're still getting notes that indicate what we see on Beta now is not the final changes including goods requirements.
So when evaluating the RAH you have to account for two things. One the opportunity cost of not building or levelling something else.
Two can you offset what RAH does with something else?
So if got the homeward bus stop diner from the winter event and used a revision kit, then one-up kits to get it to the age you want is that better than a lv 201 RAH? I think it is.
We're seeing some goods inflation with new event buildings so in my view it will be relatively easy to offset what RAH does. We just have to be careful of buildings that automatically age up to player age or buildings that need to be ascended to be good. Mistletoe Mansion is a good example of that where it provides a lot of goods but you'd have to use revision/one-up kits every 30 days so not worth it.
      That's just my perspective.

    2. You are not wrong :) I didn't think about the reversion kit mainly because they are hard to come by. But having just one Homeward bus stop on lower age with goods production boost and double collect from BG and maybe a FSP sometimes really offsets a lvl 200 RAH :D Are we able to tell which buildings automatically age up when you go to another age? For example the Homeward bus stop.

So yeah.. I would rather invest the points in something else. The question is into what? I don't see an interesting GB to level up to be honest. I am using blue for QI but I will not build Deal for that small boost. I sold TA like 2 years ago and I don't want to build it again TBH. I can fight 80 fights in hardest Expeditions, QI even on the last day is fine, CB I can go about 1000 fights a day (no time after that usually) :D so I just don't see a building to be exited by. This whole thing is just disappointing (sorry about the rant.. it's just a real letdown)

  21. "To put it simply, the entire system functions as a tightly coupled synergistic chain. First, you need The Arc at level 201, the Shattered Horizon Siphon at level 101, and a fully completed Tech Tree to unlock the +38% global multiplier on top of your base 200% for Forge Points, allowing you to progress.
Simultaneously, pushing your Cathedral of Aachen and Alcatraz to level 201, paired with the level 101 Siphon, triggers specific high-tier combat multipliers: +19% to Red Attack and +13% to Red Defense. Combining this setup with a level 201 Seed Vault injects an extra +8% into Blue Attack and Defense for Quantum Incursions and city defense.
To maximize your economy, you leverage the Eternal Market (Galactic Horizon) and any other event or limited buildings that provide a Global Goods Production Boost (such as +30% or more) to your city. At the same time, leveling the Royal Albert Hall (RAH) to at least 175 optimizes your unrefined goods engine. By strategically downgrading 10 to 12 Solara buildings to the Future Era, these stacked goods multipliers scale their base collection exponentially. This allows you to generate massive, multiplied volumes of previous-era goods, which can be traded down seamlessly. Despite the downgrade, your combat stats will barely take a hit, because the massive active combat multipliers from your level 201 military GBs and Siphon will completely compensate for the loss."
