Summer Event 2025 live server

This event should be familiar with most FoE players so if you want to skip to the prizes.  This is the famous "shuffle board" mechanic which makes this more luck than skill but not entirely.  We'll discuss strategy as we go.

Event currency:  Doubloons obtained by completing quests and via incidents in your city.  If you are signed up for the newsletter you can get some free event currency there as well.  It costs 10 doubloons to reveal a tile.  And of course you can buy more with diamonds

Anyone who reads this blog should know that we don't advocate spending money on this game.  This blog is mostly geared towards free to play players (FTP) but will show the options if you want to pay to win (PTW).  This game has a few predatory game mechanics and we will talk about them so you know to avoid it.

There are special tiles on the board.

  • Double payout
  • show two
  • shuffle all
  • daily special
  • golden dragon - need three to unlock dragon board
On the super boards (pictured above) there are 2x show two, double payout, daily specials and no shuffle.  Dragon boards gives more progress on the event pass.

Boosters:
  • cannon ball - will destroy non-essential tiles.  It can destroy the shuffle which can be good or bad depending on strategy.  More on that later
  • bounty amplifier - doubles the next reward AND reveals two tiles
  • spyglass - reveals the hidden special rewards
Boosters are obtained by completing rival quests.

Rival Challenges:
There will be 30 daily (24hr) challenges each with four tasks.  These are designed to get players to play boards daily.  They're easy to complete but you may be better off not doing any of the rivals.  We'll discuss more in the strategy section.

Calendar:

Boards will either have a dragon

or a key

If you've already obtained the key it will have key parts.  It takes four key parts to make one full key.

Completing the calendar fully gives you the following

More on this in the strategy section but if you want the "Queen Anne's Legacy" event building you will need to spend a lot of diamonds to get it.  The TLDR is it will be cheaper to just pay diamonds for the missing days than to buy currency and play more boards.  But if you want both the gold league prize and the calendar prize then you're better off playing more boards.  Just secure a line of credit prior to the event starting.

Treasure map dealer:

Whenever you win special prizes on the board you will get a choice of one of two random prizes.  Or you can pay diamonds to select both.  Your choice or choices will then take up the eight slots seen here as scrolls.  Once the eight scrolls are filled you will no longer get the chance to chose between two prizes when you uncover them on the boards.  So if you want to continue to accumulate them you need to spend 3k diamonds for them and also get the special building "Enchanted Siren's Treasure Rock".

So to make this clear you don't get anything unless you pay 3k diamonds.  Even if you pay diamonds to select both prizes after "winning" them that only puts them in the scroll slot.  Just so we're clear you should avoid this game mechanic completely.  Let the eight slots fill up then ignore it for the remainder of the event.

Leagues are back
  • Bronze will get you the 100 eternal market fragments.
  • Silver gets you the bronze plus the platinum governor's villa upgrade.
  • Gold gets you the silver and some golden upgrades, a building that makes fragments for the main event building and has some QI bonus and an ascended level of the governor's villa that lasts 90 days.
Strategy Part:
The boards reset daily with server reset.  Rival quests start about 10hrs after reset.  So before the event begins you should decide what your goals are and then play accordingly.
Do you want to get as many daily prizes as possible?
Are you trying to win the gold league?
Are you trying to complete the calendar?

How you answer those questions will determine how you play this event.

Trying to get as many of a specific daily prize.
See what the daily prize is everyday.  Do you like it?  If not switch the prize.  Do you like it now?  If yes the play the boards until your currency runs out.  Complete the daily rival easily.
If no don't spend any currency that day.
You can use the x2 double payout tile and then the bounty amplifier to get 4x the daily special.
When you collect 3 dragon parts your next board will be the dragon board.  Do not start another board until it's the daily prize you want.

Trying to complete the calendar event.

Play the boards everyday.  When rival quests start wait until the rival is up before playing.  It shouldn't matter as you'll end up playing a lot of boards so completing that day's rival quests will be easy but best practice is still best practice and wait until the rival start.  I think the first and last day will have no rival quests but all others will.  Look at the board before you start.  Is there a dragon reward or is there a key on the board.  If it's a dragon board then the goal is to find the shuffle.  If it's a key board then you want to avoid the shuffle until you find the key.
As you play the board you are looking for the calendar key.  All the other stuff is irrelevant.  So if you see the shuffle tile after hitting a "show two" tile that's perfect.  Find the key then stop playing until the board resets.
You do not have to finish the board and it's not in your interest to finish it.  Just let it reset.  Remember the dragon boards have no shuffle and they have good rewards so if you want those rewards you better get them before reset.
If you use FoE helper you can see what is remaining on the board.
To be clear you will not get enough event currency for free to complete the calendar.  If you are a FTP player then go for the best daily special.
It will be cheaper to buy the missing keys with diamonds directly than it would be to buy more currency and play more boards.

Trying to win the gold league

This event does not have to be played daily and players can hoard event currency and use it all on the last day.  If you plan on getting into the gold league and are a FTP player then best to aim for the bronze league and hope to get into silver.  If you are in a guild with players that claim to be in silver and gold leagues without spending diamonds just know they are lying.  There is still a stigma about people that spend money on this game without acknowledging that the high money spenders are the reason this game is free to everyone else.  So understand that FTP players are competing against PTW players for the gold league.  You get the most progress by playing dragon boards so it's not keys you are after it's dragon parts.  So on boards that have a key you are looking for the shuffle to get a dragon part.  On dragon boards you want to avoid the shuffle until you get the dragon part.  Be prepared to buy a lot of event currency and watch the league progress move a lot on the last day.

If you want to complete the calendar AND win the gold league

Play boards everyday until you get the calendar key and also go for the dragon parts on those boards.  You will need a lot of currency so get the credit card out.  If you want to play a bunch of boards on days you like the daily prize then go for it.

Rival Challenges:
There is not a lot to prepare in advance for rival challenges so we won't be posting the daily rivals here.  They will have 4 challenges per day and most involve uncovering tiles.
For example the first rival was
  1. uncover 1 tile
  2. make people enthusiastic AND uncover 2 tiles
  3. complete 5 min productions AND uncover 2 tiles
  4. uncover 2 tiles
So what you should do is wait for the daily rival then play the board.

FoE helper removed

There is a lot of panic in the FoE community because FoE helper has been removed from the chrome store.  That means people who did not have FOE helper previously will no longer be able to add it as an extension.

But there is good news, well at least for now.  People hat have already added the extension can still use it.

If you go to your extensions you will see this.

You can then turn it back on.

And then it's back, for now.

It's still available for Firefox

As of right now you can still add it to Brave browser but I would expect that to change for all the chrome type of variant browsers.

So it may be time to get a bunch of browsers, download FoE helper extension for those browsers and keep that as a back-up in case it's removed from the extension stores.

The big issue is and it's a question without an answer right now....is this a FoE helper thing or is it an Inno Game thing?  If inno decides it's no longer ok with players using FoE helper then there will be a lot of upset players.  Personally I can't imagine playing this game without it.

I hope there is an announcement from either FoE helper or Inno about this situation because what I don't want to see is a big ban wave.  It would be foolish for Inno to let players know that FoE isn't ok anymore by banning thousands of players instead of issuing a statement.

Best case scenario is there is a simple conflict with the current chrome browser version and when fixed it will be back in the chrome store.  If I had to bet I'd put money on that being the issue.

EDIT: We have spoken with the developers of FoE helper and indeed it was a change of chrome policy and the fix to conform to the new policy will be implemented in the coming days so it will be back.

QI how do you deal with players that are either dumb or selfish?

QI is no longer new.  We no longer need QI officers to mark paths.  Everyone should know by now how to play QI.

Guilds divide into red/blue/yellow (donators)

All players fight at least the first four or five maps there should be zero donations until at least map five or six.

Fighters go straight to the garrisons so all players get a fight bonus.

Once garrisons are down then move to strongholds which debuff the bosses.

Once strongholds are down then go to bosses.

Only fight the extra nodes if you have or will have a full quantum action bar and are waiting for the other color team to take down their nodes.

Every player should have a forgotten temple in their city giving them a small QI boost which allows them with just that to fight the first three maps using just the troops given at QI start.  Then when garrisons are down the fight boost doubles making it possible to fight map five or higher.

Simple right?  Everyone knows this?  So why do most guilds have players that go for strongholds before garrisons?  Often they are strong players that don't need the garrison boost so they are lazy or selfish.  They don't care that other players in their guild need that garrison to go down so they can fight the early maps.

You shouldn't see any players at strongholds while the garrison is up but we see this all the time.  How do you handle this in your guilds?  How do you handle guild mates that snipe guild members?  It's the same type of selfishness exhibited here.

Quantum Incursions: Championship 3 starting June 5, 2025 on Beta

Neo Kiosk and Neo Magnum Opus fragments are removed from reward pool and quantum pass.

The Spring 2025 Epic selection kit is now replaced with the Summer 2025 selection kit which includes all the previous rewards.

New Buildings:

Neo Obelisk Lv1

2x2
  • 2x2 and requires road
  • 64 - 82% red and blue attack and attack defense GE
  • 200 guild goods

Neo Obelisk Lv2

  • 2x2 no road required
  • 88 - 113% red and blue attack and attack defense GE
  • 400 guild goods

Neo Shrine of Knowledge Lv1

7
  • 3x3 and requires road
  • 54 - 75% red and blue attack and attack defense GbG
  • 45 -58 FP

Neo Shrine of Knowledge Lv2

  • 3x3 no road required
  • 95 - 130% red and blue attack and attack defense GbG
  • 63 - 81 FP

These buildings have been added to the spreadsheet of all buildings in FoE.

The Neo Obelisk lv2 is the clear winner in terms of raw stats BUT......it's all GE boost.  While harder levels of GE are comming does it matter?  To us it doesn't unless some new buildings are introduced to make it worth it.  Right now we get 50 fragments of forgotten temple if we complete trials 5-30.  If you value the other buildings in GE then sure it helps to do Trial 30 but if you see it as antique dealer fodder then trial 5 is fine too.

So while the spreadsheet is valuable you still have to use your own discretion about things like fragments and where boosts are allocated.

With that in mind the best buildings in QI are still Neo Sentinel/Neo Tactician Tower.

Followed by a toss-up between Neo Shrine of Knowledge and Neo Magnum Opus

Then we'd suggest people who want a GE boost to get the Neo Aviary instead of the Obelisk.  Even the Neo Queen in our view is better than the obelisk.

Once completed all quest player has 200 fragments of Forgotten Temple

This rival is pretty easy so long as players have speed-ups for goods, supplies and some finish special productions for prev age troops buildings.

There is only 40 GE encounters and the win fights without loss quests come after that so finding fights shouldn't be a problem even without a GbG running.

The only major problem will be for players in SAM that cannot have a goods building of that age in city and thus cannot use the finish goods item to complete the quest.  Those players will need 6 goods buildings in their colony with two 24hr and four 48hr productions set.

FoE GbG matchmaking

FoE keeps saying they are improving the matchmaking but let's be real here it's worse now than it's ever been.

Now we have fire seasons with the top 4 guilds and all the other seasons are just dead.  Top guilds get matched with non-competitive guilds.

Before you go adding new stuff please just fix the old stuff.

Item Store a new way to pay to win

Click the Item Store icon on the top right of the screen.

You can collect the new currency "opal shard"

Now you may notice that it takes a ridiculous amount of shards to get items that are old and have been outclassed for months.  But wait!  There's more!  You can also just buy event buildings with diamonds!  Not even the selection kits but the actual event building.  And there we have it.  Skip all the pretense of paying for advantage and just straight-up pay to win.

For your convenience there is the buy diamond option right on the screen.  The only consolation is so far it's all old buildings no smart players should just collect the currency and not use it for a while.

Bots in FoE let's have a grown-up conversation about it

We hear about people or guilds using bots all the time.  Most of the time it's a false allegation because a player or guild is just fast fighting.  What's fast fighting or how do you fast fight?  Well on PC it's easy.  Zoom the screen to the attack (or defend) button and the autobattle button is lined up.  How much you zoom your screen will depend on screen resolution.  For me it's 175%.  So ok your buttons are alligned so now what?
Press and hold the "R" button while furiously left-clicking the mouse.  Do not move the mouse just left-click.
Your troops will be refreshed before every battle (not between battles in two-wave fights) and your only limitation is your ping rate and how slow the server is at the time.

You can now mimic the fast fights from bots or auto-clicker and that's intentional.  Inno cannot completely eliminate bots so giving human players the ability to compete with them is the next best thing.

We had the privilege of talking to people on both sides of this issue.  The game developer that is fighting against the bots and the bot developers who are trying to stay ahead of the detection software.  So before we begin let's have a robot tell us about robot players in mmog's.
Here is the AI explanation.

In video games, bots, also known as AI players or non-player characters (NPCs), are software-controlled entities that simulate human playersThey can be used for various purposes, from filling multiplayer lobbies to automating repetitive tasks like farming in MMORPGs. Bots can range in complexity, from simple pre-programmed actions to advanced machine learning systems that can adapt to player behavior and new maps.
Here's a more detailed look at bots in games:
Types of Bots:
  • Static Bots: Follow pre-determined paths and actions, often used for simple tasks or in games where the AI doesn't need to be highly intelligent.
  • Dynamic Bots: Can learn and adapt, mimicking human behavior and adjusting to new levels or opponents.
  • Clickbots: Used to artificially inflate click numbers, often in mobile games.
  • Farming Bots: Automate repetitive resource gathering in games like MMORPGs.
  • Aimbots: Give players pinpoint accuracy, often considered a cheat.
  • Sniper Bots: Used for perfect timing on specific actions, like auction bidding.
Uses of Bots:
  • Filling Multiplayer Lobbies: When not enough human players are available, bots can fill the void and ensure the game can start.
  • Co-op Partners: Bots can be used as co-op partners in games like PUBG, allowing players to experience a duos or trios mode without needing another human player.
  • Training/Tutorials: Bots can provide a challenging or helpful experience for players learning the game.
  • Automation: Bots can automate tedious tasks like grinding resources or crafting items.
  • Testing: Developers use bots to test game mechanics and balance.
Potential Issues with Bots:
  • Unfair Advantage: Bots can give players an unfair advantage through automation or cheat features.
  • Ruined Economy: Bots can manipulate in-game economies by artificially inflating resource values.
  • Poor Player Experience: Bots can make it difficult for casual players to enjoy the game.
  • Cheat Detection: Detecting and preventing bot activity can be challenging.

So do bots exist?  Yes

Do they work?  Some do yes

Can they be detected?  Almost all can yes.

Are there things people can do to not be detected?  Yes.  (We have chosen not to disclose what works and how to evade detection as we don't support bots and cheating.)

What can bots do in FoE?  Almost everything.  We've seen bots create accounts with different player names on the same world.  Each city was exactly the same and I mean completely identical.  The layout, the placement, the buildings, the roads, the decorations, GB levels everything.  The bots are sophisticated enough to navigate changes like pop-up offers.  They can detect changes like moved to a new neighborhood and have to refresh.  They can build up cities on their own while you sleep or work.  They can fight.  They can recognize opposing troops and change your troops to match them.

So we had to ask why people buy the bots?  What's the motivation?  The answers vary but the most common reason was people wanted to skip the grind.  People want to play the game but avoid the early struggles.  They would rather pay a subscription and have a good city they could play whenever they had time than do the grind to build a good city.

We asked how people found the bots or how they obtained paying customers and then decided we're not going to disclose that either.  We will say that the people who pay for bots usually get scammed a few times from other companies first.  They either buy something that doesn't work, is easily detected or is a virus.  One easily found bot available with a simple google search just steals your account.  Again we don't recommend anyone buy or use a bot for ethical reasons let alone that it's probably a scam.

The company that does sell legit bots gets long-term repeat customers because once they find one that works they stick with it.

Are bots common in FoE?  No.  There are a lot of macros and auto-clickers but not a lot of bots.  Now FoE has made quality of life changes that make bots and auto-clickers less useful.  We now have auto-visit taverns, auto-aid friends, guild and hood.  We have auto-replace troops and with the fast fight tecnique described above for fast fighting human players can compete with bots and auto-clickers.

If you google FOE banning players you will find a lot of reports of ban waves.

FoE was (and still is) using an algorythim to detect cheating.  The problem is the system was so sensitive it made a lot of false positives.  It has since been re-tuned and we're not getting that anymore.  The quality of life changes have made detection of auto-clickers even more difficult.  Honestly that's a good thing.

So while bots and auto-clickers still exist but the days of GvG bot wars is over.  They're better at detecting the cheaters and they've changed the game so non-cheaters can compete with the bots.

The moral of the story is when you get your ass kicked in GbG it's most likely not because of bots or auto-clickers.  It's because the other guild has more people on at that time and they're fist fighting and you're not.

Viking Event on live servers starting May 6, 2025

History Event is now the Viking Event

Wheel of fortune mechanic with axes instead of knives.  You and your neighbors compete for the good prizes on the board.

Earn Viking coin through quests, incidents, daily challenges and event pass.

Use coins to spin the wheel.  Throw axes and purchase rune chests.

You can throw multiple axes.

Every time you throw an axe you get 10 points and 5 runes (formerly energy tokens).

Once all three energy bars runes are filled you can collect a reward.  You again have the ability to rebalance.  The rune you have the most of will swap with the rune you have the least of.  The cost for swaps increase with every rebalance.  It resets at midnight daily.

There are three paths to getting prizes.

1) Gain grand prize progress by throwing axes plus bonus 5 points for collecting runes from a single slot.

There are three powerful runes with a limited rune storage.  Once the storage is full you can no longer get additional prizes.

2) Use collected runes to unlock reward chests.  The first chest is free and you can use Viking coins to open the rest.

3) The rewards you instantly win from throwing axes.

We averaged a little over1410 coins between the four of us on Beta server to give you an idea of what you can expect.

  • login rewards 330
  • rush quests 450
  • daily quests 420
  • milestones 60
  • daily challenge rewards 150
  • incidents 100
  • newsletter (forgot to record the amount)

On live server they rebalanced the coins so you get less for the rush quests but more overall.  They also increased the costs of buying boxes when using runes.

Rewards:

Fjordstorm Wharf lv 10 makes silver upgrade to Dockyard which then makes golden upgrade to Harbor.

Since the level 10 makes it's own upgrades we'll only deal with the lv12 golden version

Berserker building is the sucker's prize for this event.  It comes in 4 levels so in order to get it to lv4 you need the base, an upgrade, then the lv3 called berserkers precision, then finally the forth piece called berserkers wrath.  Do not chase this item unless you want a bunch of lv3 and lv4 upgrades to a base or lv2 building you don't have.

Berserkers Wrath

  • lv 4
  • 3x3 no road required
  • gives 230 - 15,000 pop
  • 25 FP
  • 20 prev age goods
  • Random Production

  • 40% 25 goods next age
  • 10% 20 blueprints

Now this should be the target for players especially players in secondary worlds as this is easy to get.  While it does have 3 unique levels it also has upgrade kits that can be applied so you no longer have the bottleneck problem with the building above.  And this one is a lot better.

Target this building on the wheel.  You can also get it from the prize lines and rune reward chests.

A very solid strategy for this event is to simply open all boxes as many times as you can and not worry about the prize line at all.
You will have to acquire runes to open boxes so you will use some event currency doing that.  When you can open boxes the first one is free then it costs 200 (increased to 250 for live server) coin to open them all.  Choose that option for all your secondary worlds.  It takes almost no time and the rewards are good.

For main worlds you have options.
  1. Go for the gold league
  2. Go for the prize line
  3. open all as many times as possible

Eternal Market - Neon Horizon
It requires 1000 fragments and there are 1090 fragments available

150 grand prize lane
440 daily tasks
100 questline
400 rivals
The fragment allocation may change but if going for the Eternal Market do not play the rival quests that don't give eternal market fragments.  There are three types of rival quests.  Two of them give hero fragments and one gives eternal market fragments.  If you play all of them you will run out of event currency quickly and get none of them.

Rival quests:
There are a total of 18 rival questlines that have 6 tasks with 24hrs to complete.
On Beta the Rivals were just stupid hard and after rival 13 they changed it and made it a lot easier.  It will be easy on the live server as well but we won't know the actual quests until it goes live or just slightly before.

The rival quests are designed to get you to use up event currency so you'll then have to buy more.  The easy strategy is to not play any boards (wheels) unless a rival is up and just use your event currency there.  Even then only play the rival quests that give the reward you want, not all of them.
We will not be posting the rival quests in advance for two reasons.  We were asked not to spoil them as it gave an unfair advantage to players that could set productions the day before which is reasonable.  The second reason is none of us want to waste event currency on the rivals.  We're players too and none of us want to sacrifice getting more Oarcrest Fjords by playing in a less efficient way just to burn through the rival quests.

So that means we will only be playing the wheel on days where a rival quest is up and that rival is giving eternal market fragments thus ignoring the hero fragments entirely.  And we're only spinning the wheel when Oarcrest selection kit is on it.  That may mean babysitting the wheel then spamming axes when someone refreshes the wheel and it's on there.

Every once in a while Inno Games wants to see how far they can push players to spend by balancing an event in a way where most people will not get the desired rewards.  This is such an event.

The cost to buy event currency is just stupid expensive.  Gold league on Beta averaged over 35k diamonds spent.
The main event prize has 10 base levels prior to the silver and gold upgrades and it has been moved farther down the prize line so count on a lot of people not getting it.  Now if you're in an age where fast units are good then the main event building is desirable.  Most ages fast units are not good.

The best strategy is using only event currency to get enough runes to open all boxes.
